Who will win this offseason in the BLB? Let's take a look at 2011 and make some predictions for 2012 based on records, GMs, and player personnel as it looks today.

    Ale

Pawtucket is the juggernaut in this division built on the stockpiling of young players through the controversial "Tank to a Title" plan implemented by Funclown. Expect the Patriots to try and extend Victor Lemus (if the price is right) who has played well and was an expensive acquisition. If not, Stupendous becomes the best arm on the market. It's possible funclown let's Lemus walk because he's too expensive, but that means he was an extremely expensive rental. CL Edgar Fajardo will probably a $14.1m TO casualty and power hitter Jon Montalbo will walk in FA. Both will be replaced by younger players. In arby, look for SP Jarrod Nygaard and OF Israel Morales to get paid, then extended, as Pawtucket doesn't have much money tied up long term in 2013-2014.

Z and the Guides are in an interesting position after making a run to the Brewmasters. With an aging and expensive core of superstars, the Guides have a player payroll over the $100m mark and some decisions to make. With nearly $70m invested in Robby Aten, Fernando Hernandez, Adam Neubauer and Steve Suarez, Z will have to find some money to extend his many roleplayers entering FA.

It's possible that Z let's Robby Aten and his $24.5m TO go, enabling him to re-sign many of his FA roleplayers - Leary, Salazar, Angelo Gonzales, Ricky Celedon, Roberto Crespin, Robby Shumway, Dave Willis, Jon Vejar, and playoff revelation Gabriele Clareno.

With no significant arbitration cases, the Guides can focus on extending their own guys and possibly dipping into the weak FA pool for replacements. However, Z's decision on Aten is what will drive his offseason.

No stranger to striking quickly, the Mike has already moved DH only Jamie McInturf and his $10.5m to NO and acquired his replacement in cheap defensive specialist C Mike Del Rio from CAL.

The Millers are in an interesting place in the division with a nice balance of veterans, players in their prime and youngsters. Hovering around a $90m payroll, the Millers first order of business will be arbitration where cornerstones Ethan Bafford and AJ Hightower will get their arbitration demands and then have to be extended.

Outside of the onslaught of trades sure to come, the Millers roster looks pretty much set in terms of FA. They'll lose nobody major and will be limited in free agency dependent on the monster extensions most likely required to lock in Bafford and Hightower. If Mike decides to let the two arby into the future, he should have some extra money for a mid priced veteran in trade or a mid level free agent at a position of need. I'd expect Mike to trade for everything he needs.

Hartford enters the offseason with an active trade block of veterans as BDub tries to keep up with the rest of the Ale. Older and top heavy with long guaranteed contracts for Ron Wessel (2 yrs $40m), Agustin Perales (3 yrs $55m), Dave Lippert (3 yrs $42m), Geoff Mumme (2 yrs $20m), Willie Castellanos (2 years $16m), Laurent Boutin (2yrs $23m), and Danny Martinez (2yrs $15m) the Whalers are limited the next two seasons until they can unload some money.

The rest of the roster consists of minimum salaried youngsters several seasons away from their first arby contracts, so expect the Whalers to be relatively active in trying to move some of their veteran contracts while they wait for the youngsters to develop and PAW, MAI and PIT to beat each other up at the top.

Aten comes back at a reduced salary.

          Crespin and Celedon are gone.

          Willis and Clareno likely return.

We'll have a mostly new bullpen in Maine next year.

The Freedom came back down to Earth this season and still won 95 games and beat DVS in 7 games to make the ILCS before being swept by champ Carolina. The Freedom won FA last season with the acquisition of OF Tom Gibson on a great contract. They'll be limited with what they can do in 2012 with a projected payroll north of $110m.

Roberto Goto is the albatross on the payroll. His $25m will hamstring Brad a bit this season, but give them some flexibility when it comes off the books for 2013. Brendan Lindsey's bargain $12m TO will be picked up and possibly Pat Mouton and Dave Farmer at $4m each. If Brad wanted to save $8m, we could see both walk, as neither was particularly outstanding and the low end FA crop is not terrible.

Without any pending FA of significance and his in his prime starters locked into $5-7m a year deals, Brad will turn his attention to extending young phenom Pat Evans who will most likely command a significant first long term deal. Add in Jimmy Kidwell and Philly begins to eat into their 2013 flexibility.

I expect Brad to add some cheaper roleplayers in FA and promote from within. It wouldn't be impossible to add a marquee player in a trade, but it would require some creative salary matching to get done.

We haven't seen this level of injuries inflicted on a team this terrible since The Cheater was running the BLB. Devastated last season, it was a miracle that Delandis was even able to keep the Bulldogs in the fight until the end. Baltimore should benefit simply from having everyone return from the disable list.

Dave Crudge's career appears to be over and Baltimore is the unfortunate owner of $22m contract over the next two season's. If karma exists, Tug will walk away freeing up that cash.

With Crudge on the books the Bulldogs are in the $95m range without any significant arbitration deals besides Oscar Sanchez. Add in several team friendly team options and the Bulldogs should be able to maintain most of their roster outside of making some trades to fill gaps.

Expect Delandis to pick up Travis Krummen's contract and waive goodbye to two BLB HOFers who may have hit the end of the road in Baltimore in Al Hamilton and Tex Watts.

The big budget Baltimore could be a player in FA, though the pickings are pretty slim. I'd expect Delandis upgrade his team by using his usual blueprint of assets (picks/prospects) to bring in proven talent.

The Muckdogs have been in a holding pattern the last few seasons. Two seasons of underachieving has given away to a season of overachieving, though the projected payroll north of $120m belies the talent on the roster.

Matt has Batavia firmly balanced on the IL Wildcard bubble and it's quite possible we could see a roster upheaval similar to the plan in the 90's that brought the team a title years later.

Aging stars Travis Wyatt ($15m) and Bill Hardwick ($15m) are both productive players, but age and their contract limits their appeal and the value of a return on both. I'd expect Matt to pick-up CF Willie Garcia TO, if only to try and deal him.

The once championship caliber rotation has shown cracks with age. Diego Martinez ($12.5m), Danny Gonzalez ($15.5m), and Joey Bertin ($7m arby) are all now on the wrong side of 30, but if moved this season could return decent value as teams look to add championship pedigree veteran arms in a weak FA class.

Alex Mejia will most certainly hit FA and emerging star 1B Hidetoshi Haraguchi could be the beneficiary of a shiny new extension. Pairing Haraguchi with emerging star Sullivan Smart at SS, who is in line for his first payday this offseason, gives Batavia a solid 1-2 punch to build on as Matt adds younger assets.

Look for the Matt to try and shift some salary out and possibly add some younger pieces. If he's able to shed some salary, the Muckdogs could follow that with some savvy veteran deals to fill out the roster and make another run at a wildcard while also retooling for the future in upstate NY.

Linty is building towards something big in California and the foundation is firmly in place. The Kodiaks continue to stockpile future picks and talent while their $50m payroll allows them to invest of player development and scouting.

The young Kodiaks have no significant young stars anywhere close to arbitration and zero bad contracts.

Look for Linty to offer his current players their arbitration numbers simply to keep the bottom of the budget from falling out. California will most likely continue to move well performing, but older BLB players for assets throughout the season and will spend a little in FA with the hopes of flipping acquisition for assets after June 15.

Dallas put together their highest win total (106) in franchise history after a very busy off-season in 2011. Unfortunately the team was knocked off early by eventually DL Champions in the Maine Guides. This year, Sully has more difficult decisions to make. Team options remain on pitchers C.J. Skinner, Travis Neal, Danny Ventura and Dave Duvall, who combined for over 600 innings last season. Expect staff ace Skinner ($12.2M) and life-long Snapper Duvall ($2.4M) to definitely return. Neal threw for 227 innings last year and the fragile pitcher will turn 35 in January. Declining Neal ($7M) and Ventura ($4.6M) will give the snappers the flexibility to re-sign CF Tom Estes and 2B Jamie Wentworth, two of the current projected top Free-Agents.

3B Pat Vonada, acquired from Morgantown before the start of the season has the big arbitration hearing, potentially. The 29-year-old had a career year hitting .286 with 40 doubles, 23 homers and 100 RBI. Don't be surprised to see the Snappers avoid that third option year by reaching a long-term deal here soon.

With no other projected Free-Agents and very little budget room expect the Snappers to look very similar to the team last year...and that's a good thing. The Neal decision could be based on how future ace 23-year-old SP Ian Brooks looks after returning from elbow inflammation.

You can never be quite sure what Carlos and the Denver Baseball Club are up to.

Closer Jamie Crook needs a new deal and after moving a 1st and prospect to get him, you can bet Denver locks him up long term. Beyond him, old guys 2B Colin Reed and SP Tom Stolarik could be headed to free-agency. Reed needs an extension and Stolarik is likely to have his $10.75M option declined. Expect Reed to hit FA and Stolarik to return on a much lesser salary number.

After that, Denver should have just $70-$75M committed to player salaries but the team is known throughout the league as one of the big spenders on player development as well as scouting. With Dallas clearly the better team and in the DL with Pawtucket and the defending DL champs in Maine, I wouldn't expect Denver to be desperate to improve immediately. They will stay the course with their group. They could be in the market for a 3B but after years of being the laughing stock of the league defensively, don't be surprised to see them give the gig to youngster[b] Seth Dorval[b] who is a stud defender and blazing on the base paths but hit just .216 with a .488 OPS.

With no significant arbitration cases, the Bulls should look very similar again...just how Carlos likes it.

Lemus extended to a very top heavy contract. Really dig how it's structured though admitingly he probably doesn't see year 5. Now a top player, it's not a shock he ends up the highest paid veteran.

Like Franco from a year ago Fajardo takes a whopping pay cut. Everyone knows my position on bullpen arms.

Ok so far on extensions it appears we can get these kids on the cheap (within reason)

Saw that coming a MILE away.

OOTP15 has made it so much easier to re-sign RPs. I declined Dusty Casserino's $6M, two team options this off-season. He made $4.5M this year but resigned for just $1.3M per.
