  • Drafting Tools

I don't know if there is a Post like this one around the forum already....

I suck drafting after the easy 1st and 2nd Round's picks... Which are pretty obvius.

And it means mostly 33 wasted picks that I would like to use

Any tools or tips?? I used the potential ratings, stats from their career in college or HS and everything but anyway I still sucking. So am I missing something? ?

Depends on your scout. They favor ability or potential.

I like to compare my scout with OSA. Also I'm huge on Work Ethic and Intelligence.

With a 30+ round draft though it's mostly a crapshoot, just like MLB. Even with only 10 rounds in the BLB it's a crapshoot after Rd 1. OOTP '15 has also changed. In days of old lots of guys looked great then busted. Now they are more flatline and gain. Only problem is it's very hard to find the talent. More realistic but sometimes frustrating for owners.

You have to figure out how you want to build your team based on your scouts preference. Basically if he favors tools or ability. An example I like to use:

      Mike Trout (Tools)
      Albert Pujols (Ability)

I too think Work Ethic is something that should be considered as well.

A lot of the players on Pawtucket are smart, but lazy. Not by design.

Jistic use tell me character means shit. I "semi" agree. I think it's important least during the development phase, but once they turn 27 I tend to look at loyalty and leadership more.

Development is a complete feel nothing more. Just to many variables to get this down to a science.

Very good explanations from the experts, many thanks.

Is here also a kind or Boom or Bust players? Or the potential says he is going to finish as a 5 star caliber, if you work out him properly he is going to be a 5 star player? Or in the opposite way, suddenly a 1 star journeyman with 17 years can boom to a 3 or 4 star starter??

Not sure a 17 year vet will suddenly become a star. Its more likely what you'll get are "late bloomers" Maybe a serviceable young player who gets a few lucky dice rolls and by age 28 or 29 might became a allstar. Its rare, but things like that can happen.
