  • 2011- 1/3 season DL Races taking shape

Besides the Lager, it's really wide open.

    ALE

The Ale just suddenly become ok in one season so I'm not buying it. Pawtucket was as consistent as any can be last season. Now it's all about streaks. They will make the playoffs, but Maine or even Pitt isn't what they're record claims. Maine relies on pitching, but this should be enough to claim a playoff spot. Pittsburgh ....just realized been in the playoffs for 6 straight seasons. Might be fighting OOTP ghosts(what can go wrong will go wrong). Hartford again will try to compete, but find the bottom for the 2nd straight season.

    LAGER

This race is over. Congrats to LA again. New York gets it, New Orleans gets it. Toronto will fight on, but resistence will be futile. LA is not a "blue bar" team, but Jimmy is very stats oriented and fields a "Pat" like ball club.(ratings be dammed) He's become the DL Washington.

    PILSNER

What's not to like about Dallas? Best closer in baseball, elite homerun hitter, Shurbert (my scout says his contact sucks, doesn't matter) Ace pitcher. They win this division and are the favorites to win it all (Sorry IL) . Denver is a solid 2nd, pitching still blows. Improving Sryacuse hits .500 and Indy fights for a top 5 pick(why not have 'Eager Beaver' do his growing pains now?)

    Wilcard

I know Syr is hanging around, but Maine, Denver and Pitt (even PAW) are far superior. I think Pitt figures it out and makes it interesting for Maine. I have Denver as a lock. Lager watches it all on television.

Dallas is on a roll and has everything working for them right now. But they've played an insane about of home games. Not ready to surrender the division in June.

I still like your team. Either way, I think you make the playoffs.

        ALE
Pawtucket is the defending champions and arguably have a better team this year. Maine is playing above their heads and Pittsburgh can't get out of their own way. The Guides could ride this hot streak down the stretch but I think Pawtucket makes a few adjustments now that Maine is threatening.

        LAGER
Los Angeles is nine games up in a division with no other team above the .500 mark. We should really think about realignment.

        PILSNER
Dallas is starting to run away with it now at 12 games up. Denver after trading away a few players are still in the hunt for the Wild Card.

        WILDCARD
Not a ton of excitement here. The #1 WC spot will be PAW/MAI, a near lock. That realistically leaves Denver to hold off two sub .500 clubs in Pittsburgh and Indy. The Millers have the talent to turn it around but they play in a really tough division with Maine and Pawtucket trying to win every game. And Indy is probably more likely to end up with the #1 pick than the #2 Wild Card.

        PREDICTION
        Ale: Pawtucket (#2)
        Lager: Los Angeles (#3)
        Pilsner: Dallas (#1)
        WC1: Maine
        WC2: Denver

We had a rough time in April but we've won better than 60% of our games since then and have been very consistent in doing so.

          Monthly win totals:
          May: 16
          June: 16
          July: 16

And 7-0 in August so far.

We're not a juggernaut but we are for real.

Pawtucket will make adjustments, but right now seems the worst thing that happened to us was Allstar break. Hate to say it, but losing 2 out of 3 to Indy was a bad omen. Last year sub .500 clubs we chewed up. Were a very streaky team this season which I semi expected it in some way cuz of winning it all last season. More talent seems to equal more crazyness.

Didn't help CF Mason got hurt right before the Maine series. He's been our rock all season and was honestly not prepared for that adjustment. That falls on the GM.

We are a much better team today than the start of the season. Better defense. Better pitching - some of it a result of better defense. And still a lot of offense.

But Dallas is at another level and we can't catch them. At this point it's hoping we have enough to get by the wild card team and somehow get through a top seed.
