Starting Pitcher (LSU)

Las Vegas, NV (BLB) - With the 1st overall pick in the 2011 BLB Draft, the Las Vegas Scorpions selected 19 year old SP Tristan Jackson of LSU. A righty, Jackson is rated by OSA as 8/7/5 and is viewed similarly by my scout. Projected as a high strikeout pitcher with velocity in the 99-101 mph range, Jackson is currently 3-5 in 10 starts at LSU with a 3.35 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. Nicknamed The Professor, Jackson boasts an already impressive fastball, a developing slider, along with an assortment of offspeed pitches that include a curveball, forkball, changup, and circle change. His ability to keep the ball on the ground (57% GB), high work ethic, and team leadership should serve him well as him moves through the Death Valley system towards the Vegas rotation.

The Scorpions also have pick 1.24 in the 2011 draft.

A lot to like about this kid, too much potential to pass up on for me.

Highly Favor Ability from looking at his profile. Nice guys to find the sure fire solid player, but they really suck being able to point out the possible gem in the rough.

I hate these scouts come draft day. Its like having an 89 year old guy screaming at you in the war room "These guys aint what they use to be back when I was growing up"

Not to say sometimes they don't get it right.
