In the clubhouse after the win, the 25-year-old Anguiano told reporters, "I'm in a groove right now, and I am trying to stay there by doing the same things over and over again. If I change something, it might bring me bad luck."
Al Anguiano grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, struck out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.

"I felt a little pull while I was stretching out before practice. Doesn't seem too bad, but I'm going to get it checked out to be safe." Manager Joaquín Álvarez commented "I would put his odds of playing today at less than 50/50. It's just not really worth risking further injury."

Tobs' Edgar Mejia, Just One of the Fans?: Tailgaters and fans of the Carolina got the surprise of their life before yesterday's game as fan favorite, Edgar Mejia, drove into the stadium parking lot in a custom built luxury RV. He chose a parking spot amongst the many other tailgating fans and joined them for some pre-game revelries. "These are hands down, the coolest fans in all of baseball. How could you not want to come hang out here," Mejia said while grilling brats on the RVs custom fold out grill station.

By the time he had to depart for pre-game warm-ups and exercises, the bus was swarming with several dozen fans, all trying to get a chance to shake his hand and get a picture with the humble star. Mejia went on to say, "I love coming down here. I feed off the energy of the crowd. It's great to shake some hands, hear some stories and have that positive energy going into the ballpark." When asked, Mejia confirmed that he plans to make pre and post game tailgating at his RV a regular occurrence.

                        A couple things.

                        Duffy is a maniac.

Oldham keeps having 5 hit games. He's possessed.

Mejia is already trying to get to know the Carolina fans. He's a cool dude.

Streak Finally Over, Anguiano Held Hitless: The Maine Guides clamped down on Al Anguiano and put a stop to his hit streak at 24 straight games. He went without a hit, but it didn't keep the Freedom from winning the game. Philadelphia downed the Guides 4-3.

Thus far this year Anguiano has hit .354 with 3 home runs and 27 RBIs.

Wallis Blames Traffic for Tardiness: Showing up late for work can be costly. Travis Wallis is expected to be fined or benched for the team's next game after getting to the ballpark 30 minutes late. "I got stuck in traffic!" screamed Wallis as he ran down the hallway to talk to manager Joaquín Álvarez about the situation. "it's unacceptable," said Álvarez. "He should know better and should take responsibility for his actions. Even though this appeared to be an honest mistake, he should take traffic into account. Leave 30 minutes earlier next time!"

"I'm not going to deny it's been a difficult decision," Melendez said, speaking to the rumors, "but it's time. It took me a while to realize that, but it's time to leave the game."

In a dominating 3-0 performance at Samuel Stone Memorial Field, the 26-year-old hurler had 8 strikeouts and 1 walk. Not one batter managed a hit.

The Hartford manager said after the game, "You could tell early on it was going to be a long day for us. He made us look real bad. He was that good. And still going strong at the end of the game."

"Yeah, this was a special day for me," said Palomares. "I had my good stuff and good movement... good location, too. Even when I was off and made a mistake, I got away with it today."

Poole Receives Updated Diagnosis: Team officials for the Los Angeles Dinos have revealed that the recent injury to Erik Poole will keep him out for 9 months. The 26-year-old starting pitcher suffered a stretched elbow ligament on 06/19/2011. He has not played since.

In 2 starts this year Poole has recorded a 1-2 record and a 2.45 ERA.

Alvarez Blanks New York: Ignacio Alvarez was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Knights. He shut them out 9-0 on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

The Maine manager said, "Ignacio was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."

The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Alvarez has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that off-speed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."

In 15 starts this year Alvarez has fashioned a 8-4 record and a 2.62 ERA.

Injury Setback for Millers Luna: Millers catcher Ruben Luna has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation for knee inflammation. He was expected to finish treatment soon and rejoin the team slightly ahead of schedule, but now doctors will reevaluated him after he felt severe pain in a recent workout. The preliminary examination revealed more damage and is worse than the first injury. Anonymous sources in Pittsburgh told BNN Ruben Luna would be absent from the roster quite a bit longer than originally diagnosed. He would now have to miss at least one week.

Looking at his season stats, Luna has compiled a .247 batting average and a .320 on-base percentage, while hitting 5 home runs and driving in 30 runs.

Santana Out 6 Weeks: Abraham Santana will have to wait a while longer. The Baltimore catcher was informed this afternoon that he will miss another 6 weeks with a fractured ulna. The injury has kept him off the field since 06/21/2011. Though Santana had hoped to return soon, he has no choice but to be patient. "Gotta stay focused," he said. "Gotta stay positive."

This year Santana is hitting at a .263 pace with 12 home runs and 29 RBIs. He has played in 66 games and scored 38 times.

Number 2000 for Herrera: Jonathan Herrera of the Pawtucket Patriots earned his membership in the exclusive 2000-hit club this afternoon at Kennedy Field at Metropolitan Stadium. The 35-year-old shortstop got his milestone hit in the Patriots 5-1 triumph over the New York Knights. Herrera went 2-4 for the game.

Looking at his all-time stats, Herrera has a lifetime .265 average with 2001 hits, 401 doubles, 30 triples, 39 home runs and 717 RBIs. To date he has scored 788 runs, walked 573 times and stolen 30 bases.
