We were up 3 games to 2 coming back to Pawtucket with 2 aces and Pat on vacation.

Also went 7 games to Clays FIRST championship and for some unholy reason Del Evans who never started a game took the rock in the final game?

Veteran Re-Signs with Playboys: The Windy City Playboys have finished a deal with All Star-caliber left fielder Victor Robles that will extend his stay in Windy City at least 5 years and will pay out $84,150,000.

For the year Robles has hit .328 with 9 home runs, 44 RBIs and scored 42 runs.

              Eddy Shuts out Death Valley:
The Tobs whipped the Scorpions in a 8-0 whitewash today at Tobs Stadium. It was a masterful outing for William Eddy, who shut out Death Valley on 4 hits.

To date this season Eddy is 9-4 with 19 starts and an ERA of 3.45 with 115 strikeouts in 125.1 innings.

Rehab Road Tough For Patriots Israel Morales: Pawtucket got some bad news today concerning right fielder Israel Morales. He is recovering from a torn meniscus. Club doctors have extended his time of return to 2 weeks, saying his injury has not responded well to treatment. It is worse than they first diagnosed.

Presently Morales is batting .244 with 44 hits and 9 home runs. He has knocked in 30 runs and scored 27 times.

Latest Injury Report on Jobe: The injury that has kept B.J. Jobe out of action since 07/22/2010 will keep him out a while longer. Toronto Canadians officials made the announcement this afternoon. They said that Jobe is expected to miss at least 4 months with a fractured ankle.

Jobe is batting .366 with 2 home runs and 17 RBIs this season.

Hit Parade: Romarigues Pops 5 Hits: Tristan Romarigues had an answer for everything the Hartford Whalers threw him today in the Maine 10-0 triumph at Old Port Park. He made good contact 5 times and 5 times he drilled the ball for a base hit.

The Maine third baseman went 5 for 5 in the game to put his name in the record book.

Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Romarigues said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."

Tristan Romarigues singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and doubled in the 8th.

So far this year Romarigues has hit .244 with 9 home runs, 37 RBIs and 37 runs scored.

5-Hit Barrage by Chiba: Terumoto Chiba was unstoppable, but his club, the Bulldogs, was not unbeatable. Despite his hitting heroics they lost to the Davenport Brawlers 9-5. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His only consolation will be a boost in his batting average and a brief mention in the record book.

Chiba just shook his head after the game, saying to the BNN reporters, "It's the team with the most runs that wins... not the most hits."

Terumoto Chiba hit a solo-shot off Danny Huerta in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

Thus far this year Chiba has hit .354 with 26 home runs and 79 RBIs.

Korody Goes 5-6 Against Baltimore: It was a good day all around. Davenport whipped Baltimore 16-6 and T.J. Korody displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at Phillips Field.

"Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. T.J. is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have."

The 33-year-old right fielder for the Brawlers collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats to get his name in the record book.

T.J. Korody singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.

Korody is currently batting .245 with 5 home runs, 34 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has 60 hits in 245 at-bats.

BNN Stats: Rookie Batting Leaders: Which rookie is leading the Brewers League Baseball in wins above replacement (WAR)?

                Al Anguiano, PHI, 3.2
                Antonio Banuelos, DAL, 1.6
                Tom Wright, DEN, 1.4

Latest Injury Report on Otero: Alex Otero will have to wait a while longer. The Washington third baseman was informed this afternoon that he will miss another 5 weeks with a fractured hand. The injury has kept him off the field since 08/07/2010. Though Otero had hoped to return soon, he has no choice but to be patient. "Gotta stay focused," he said. "Gotta stay positive."

Otero is currently batting .258 with 3 home runs, 39 RBIs and 64 runs scored. He has 92 hits in 356 at-bats.

5-6 Game for Lee: The scorebook looked great for Jimmy Lee, but it looked dismal for his team, the Hartford Whalers. The 29-year-old right fielder had a great day at the plate with 5 hits, but his team went down to defeat. The Pawtucket Patriots whipped them 6-5 today at Samuel Stone Memorial Field.

Jimmy Lee struck out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 11th.

In this current campaign Lee is hitting at a .333 clip with 4 home runs and 52 RBIs.

Bickert Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits:
No matter what Denver pitchers threw him today Spencer Bickert hit it. The 26-year-old Indianapolis catcher racked up 5 hits in 6 at-bats today against them at Rocky Top Park and spearheaded the Clowns to a 9-6 victory.

Spencer Bickert singled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Oscar Gaxiola in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, grounded out in the 10th and singled in the 12th.

So far this year in 59 games Bickert is hitting .323 with 5 home runs, 34 RBIs and 23 runs scored.

Flores Sizzles with 20-Game Batting Streak: Kodiaks catcher Vinny Flores is really on a roll. In today's game at In-N-Out Field he came up with 3 hits in 4 at-bats and extended his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games. But the Philadelphia Freedom came up winners on the scoreboard and topped California 8-3.
Vinny Flores hit an RBI double in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and flied out in the 8th.

Currently Flores has 3 home runs and a .336 batting average.

                    Patriots Chill Willis's Hot Streak:
Dave Willis of the Maine Guides came up empty at the plate today and went hitless in 3 at-bats. That put a quick end to his 21-game hitting streak. To make matters even worse, Maine dropped the game to the Pawtucket Patriots 5-3.

In a postgame comment Willis told the press, "It was not a good day today. We lost the game and the streak is over."

To date, Willis has collected 45 hits for a .398 average. He has posted 1 home run, scored 15 runs and driven in 15 runs.

                    BNN Stats: Career Batting Leaders:
So, who is the leader in the Brewers League Baseball in career sacrifice hits?

Perkins Gets Injury Report: The injury that has kept Dave Perkins out of action since 08/14/2010 will keep him out a while longer. Denver BC officials made the announcement this afternoon. They said that Perkins is expected to miss at least 3 weeks with shoulder tendinitis.

Looking at his season stats, Perkins has compiled a .305 batting average and a .401 on-base percentage, while hitting 5 home runs and driving in 40 runs.

Watts Injury Update: The latest news from the Pawtucket Patriots clubhouse is this: shortstop Tex Watts is expected to be out of action for another 5 weeks. He has a knee sprain, sustained on 08/14/2010. Watts expressed a bit of relief. "At least now I know," he said.

To date this season Watts is hitting .231 with 7 home runs.

Haraguchi and Steffen Suspended for Free-for-All:
It was quite a row yesterday at Lawrence Stadium. The Muckdogs Hidetoshi Haraguchi and the BC Pat Steffen backed up their angry words with a few shoves and a few swings. Then both dugouts raced onto the field and got involved in the fracas. When it was over, only Haraguchi and Steffen were ejected.

As expected they were informed by the league office that they would each have to serve 4-game suspensions for their inappropriate actions.

On the year Haraguchi is hitting .338 with 140 hits, 13 home runs, 66 RBIs, .423 OBP and has scored 74 runs.

                          Veteran Hamilton Signs 1-Year Deal:
Al Hamilton stepped before the podium this afternoon with Maine officials flanking him on both sides as he doffed the Guides cap and announced he'd reached an agreement to play in Maine for 1 year.

The deal, an estimated $3,000,000 in total, is widely seen as a positive move for an organization looking to upgrade their first baseman.

Quinn Booms 300th Homer: Canadians left fielder Tyler Quinn reached a career milestone yesterday, blasting home run number 300.

He took the achievement in stride. "It's always good to get another home run and even better to get another win," Quinn told reporters in the postgame interview.

He went 2-5 during the Toronto 11-6 triumph over the Los Alamos Amigos and scored 2 runs with 3 runs batted in.

His all-time numbers show Quinn is carrying a .244 career batting average with 300 home runs and 925 RBIs.

Lippert Blitzes Death Valley: In an impressive mound performance, Dave Lippert of the Hartford Whalers checked the Death Valley Scorpions on a 2-hitter and held them scoreless.

"He was getting ahead of us and keeping the ball off the plate," said the Death Valley manager. "Lippert kept us confused the whole game."

The Hartford hurler rang up 9 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in his 6-0 shutout victory.

This season in 25 starts Dave Lippert has a record of 13-9 with 153 strikeouts in 158.2 innings and a 3.86 ERA.

Mumme Swings for the Cycle: "Ladies and gentlemen, Geoff Mumme has just hit for the cycle!" That was the call from the PA announcer as Mumme collected the last hit he needed to complete the cycle today against the Scorpions. He collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 runs batted in and 3 runs scored as Hartford stopped Death Valley 12-3 at The Sandbox.

Hitting for the cycle is one of the most difficult feats in baseball at any level. The odds are really against a player hitting a single, double, triple and a home run in the same game.

"It's the last thing on my mind really. I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill," Mumme told reporters after the game.

He could be right, but it's not every day that someone hits for the cycle. That's why his name will be placed in the record book.

Geoff Mumme singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Tom Bell in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.

In his season totals, Mumme has 5 home runs, .304 BA, .339 OBP, 62 RBIs and 59 runs scored. He has played in 112 games.

No Hits for Rosema, Streak Ends at 28: The Philadelphia Freedom got more than a 5-3 victory over Dallas today at Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower Field. They put an end to Jimmy Rosema's 28-game hitting spree by holding him without a hit in 4 at-bats. But it was no big deal to the Snappers left fielder.

Rosema seemed to feel more for his team than himself.

"I had some great looks at some pitches that I should have hit. I missed some that I shouldn't have swung at. All in all, I wasn't much help with the bat today."

This season Rosema is batting .332 with 3 home runs. His totals include 46 RBIs and 69 runs scored.

Star 3B Cardenas Signs for 2 years: Washington management got a shot in the arm today as Antonio Cardenas announced he would re-sign with the organization at a rate of $15,000,000 per year.

While some have questioned hiring a 35-year-old man, most fans and sportswriters appear receptive as Cardenas is still an A list player.

This year Cardenas has batted at a .264 pace with 105 hits, 20 home runs, 95 RBIs and scored 63 times.

Hitting Streak Still Alive for Chiba: The hot bat of Bulldogs first baseman Terumoto Chiba continues to churn out hit after hit, game after game. His consecutive-game hitting streak now numbers 20 games after he went 1-for-4 in today's 7-3 loss to the BC at Phillips Field.
Terumoto Chiba hit an RBI double in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.

In his 2010 season totals, Chiba has 30 home runs, .357 BA, .406 OBP, 94 RBIs and 73 runs scored.

Verba Set to Miss 5 Weeks: The medical report is in: the injury that has kept Denver left fielder Pat Verba out of action since 08/20/2010 will sideline him for another 5 weeks. The 27-year-old Verba, who has a fractured thumb, said he heals quickly. "I'll be back soon," he said, "and I'll pick up where I left off. "

This season Verba is batting .260 with 43 RBIs, 53 runs scored and 14 home runs.

BNN Stats: Batting Leaders at Shortstop: Check out who leads the Brewers League Baseball in on-base percentage while playing Shortstop!

                          David Santoyo, NYK, .400
                          Sullivan Smart, BAT, .368
                          C.J. Wilkinson, DEN, .355
                          Andy Garcia, PHI, .354

Losing Perkins and Verba hurts. That's 2/3rds of our outfield.

I see Chiba enjoyed himself while playing Denver. Good for him.

We are switching to '15 this offseason. We usually run a few years (real time) per version as it takes a year for newly released versions to work out the bugs. Feel free to pick up '15 and manage away on single player to get the hang of things.

The BLB is usually full but we get openings every now and then so I'll keep you informed.
