SP Travis DuFour (LA)
SP Troy Martin (PHI)
The Bats focused on tightening up their self proclaimed "smoke and mirrors" rotation by bringing back legendary Bat Travis DuFour from the Dinos and Troy Martin from the Freedom. They'll add some righthanders to a dominant lefty rotation that marginalized the Muckdogs in the playoffs and features Robby Aten, Tyler Salzman, and Robby Duffy. Look for the Bats to be a more balanced rotation as they seek a possible 6th starter in house or through late FA.
What's Old?
Insert usual Pat joke about bringing in aging players, except this time it's the bullpen that's old. And it's not by age, but in WAS experience. A strength of last year's team, the bullpen returns it's top 5 arms in CL David Rodriguez (35 saves, 1.54), Dusty Casserino (2.84), Ismael Ramirez (2.85), Armando Fuentes (3.13), and David Saucedo (2.34).
What to Expect?
Expect one of the best line-ups in baseball to continue to rake. The Bats return several youngsters from injury and boast a nice mix of veteran leaders (Ladd, Cardenas, Reyes, Flores) with productive youngsters (Romero, Otero, Urmson, Nelson & Nelson) to round out a formidable line-up. As long as the young bats continue to grow, the veterans don't fall off, and the bullpen produces the way it's capable of, there's no reason to expect any regression from Washington.
Prediction:
1st in the Stout 96-66
MVP - Pat Ladd is rejuvenated at 30, hits .295/.375/.550 with 34 homers and 105 RBIs.
