  • DL 1/3 season. Races taking shape.

Time to look at the DL and see how things are playing out.

    DL Ale:

Maine and Pitt resumed its rivalry from last season. Maine feels like a slight favored in this one, but it's close. Whoever takes the division probably gets the Wildcard. Cleveland feels a bit paralyzed, hard to figure on which direction to travel. It would be a minor upset if Pawtucket climbs out of the cellar, but it is possible.

    DL Lagger:

Defending champs LA appears to be the best of the lager by default. The rotation is showing some cracks, but should hold for one more deep run in the playoffs. It's lineup causes matchup issues come playoff time. New York and Toronto are about on the same level. Maybe one gets hot? New Orleans is in full rebuild.

    DL Pilsner:

Denver finally takings it's place with the contenders after a very unusual, lengthy rebuilding process. Good for them. Perinial bridesmaid Dallas seems like....a bridesmaid. Should compete, but always feels like they end up with the 5th place ribbon. After dominating for most of the 00s, Syracuse and Indy are finally paying for they're evil and decadent ways that so define this decade.

    DL Wildcard:

Not as exciting as the IL, should come down to the 2nd place teams of the ALE and Pilsner. Been this way all decade with Pilsner taking the 1st half, but the Ale taking the reigns the second half. The Lager is not invited.

We took the Kansas City Royals approach to rebuilding. It wasn't pretty, it took forever, there were a few questionable trades and signings, but ultimately, the youth developed and the fans are coming back.

Maybe we should have powder blue uniforms.

This actually could end up being very exciting. I think the Ale and Pilsner will probably come down to the final weeks. Prediction: Maine, LAD, Denver, Pittsburgh wildcard, Dallas a few games back of the division and a few games back of the wild card. Sorry Sully.

So far this has been a very solid prediction. Dallas or Toronto I guess can still make some hay, but it seems to be going as planned in the DL.

Dallas is still on my heels. We are a bad month away from the Snappers mounting a major comeback.

It happened to us once before when Jim was running Dallas. Just before we went into full rebuild mode, we had a lead into the final week, Jim tied us at the end and we lost in the one-game playoff by a run. It shattered me and led me to go crazy the first time when I started trading away all of my youth to get older experienced players, determined to never have my team fall apart like that again.

Instead my franchise became a joke.

Sure maybe. I just think you'll pull it off. You made alot of moves for more hitting. Sully knows how this plays out.

Sully doesn't exude confidence trying to push his stars through waivers.

I don't. We lack picks and prospects to keep pace in the near future. Blowing this baby up.

It'll be interesting to see if your offense can carry your pitching. You're going to need it to.

We definitely don't have the pitching that Maine or Los Angeles has, but I think we're right there with Pittsburgh.

For us, we don't have more than one clear cut ace type and I'm still hesitant to call Tamieke that. But I think we have a balanced middle-to-bottom rotation that helps keep us in games with the offense we have.

The real trouble is, like you said, how we fare against a top three from Maine and Los Angeles. If our offense can carry us to wins over those arms, I'm confident the rest of my staff can handle the rest.

The Ale and Lager are now tied at the top.

This is shaping up to be one of our more exciting Septembers in BLB history.

Dino's definitely having a Brewmaster hangover. Got to love this part of the game.
