Pawtucket take C-Dave Piekarski.
Actually been watching him for sometime. Some might of gone pitcher here, but not passing this kid up. Not going to say "can't miss" but my scout has his POT as 6-6-6-5-7 while OSA draws him as all 6's. Also appears he can learn an extra position or 2 as well which will help for Interleague play.
Tearing it up in his final season at Oklahoma St right now. Be interesting to see where he debuts on the top 100 list. Thinking top 12 .PAWTUCKET PATRIOTS

My scout has him #3 on his draft list and says "possible Hall of Fame material" with 7-5-6-5-6 potential. He will be above average at catcher, but could also play a little 1B/3B and maybe even LF in a pinch. He doesn't have the best intangibles as a team player, but his high work ethic and intelligence should bode well even if he is just playing for money. I also like that he is durable and while a catcher he isn't super slow at "4-4-4" running. He is probably BLB ready by September.
IMO there is a clear #2 as well. I could even see some teams arguing him as the #1 guy but I think Pawtucket made the right selection.Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-

Denver Bulls select SS C.J. Wilkinson.

If I would have been selecting #1...well, we all know that's never going to happen...I would have lost a lot of sleep going between Wilkinson and Piekarski.
My scout has Wilkinson #4 on the draft list, 6-6-2-5-6 potential, 7-8-6-8 defense and 7-8-7 stealing..."should have a long career ahead." He's a leader, too.Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-

I'm hoping he and Eckstein make up a dynamic double play duo up the middle.
I'm not trying to draft based on need alone. I would have taken Andy Garcia last year if that were the case. But I had to have Dave Perkins at that spot.
Wilkinson makes it so much easier for me to not worry If Garcia ends up being electric. It just so happened he plays short (a position of great need in Denver). With Eckstein's injury, maybe these two come up together.

You have set yourself up very well with those two at 2B-SS.

My scout already has his contact at a 5. Pretty much the only reason he stays in the minors to pick 2B and or 3B and to round out his bat a bit.
Again nice pick. I had one other guy in my "group of 3"Last edited by funclown; 06-23-2014, 01:30 PM.PAWTUCKET PATRIOTS

We pop SP Pat Evans. Wasn't really looking to go P with the 1.3, but BPA and all that. Lefty, 70 GB%, throws hard. We liked a few bats, but each had something about them that made us hesitate (especially while holding the 1.6, there's a tier there where we can get a similar bat). Evans was by far the best pitcher on our board. Glad to have him.Philly Freedom
