Philly selects OF Taylor "Stringer" Bell out of Long Beach St.

Good pick with Bell it came down to Scriber and Bell for me. Went with the guy I thought might have more immediate impact... and not necessarily who will have the better career.

We hope he grows up to be a solid, occasionally outstanding performer (maybe an All-Star game or two? May be asking too much).

Seems to have decent power and some speed. We're hoping his contact rate matures. He's posted a BB rate of roughly 16-17% (which honestly I haven't compared to his classmates, but given the nature of the EYE ratings from recent classes, that rate would be at a minimum passable).

On top of that he's an OFer which we're pretty short on in the near and long term. Clean injury history, too. In short, we're glad he was available this late in the first round.

That's funny. Ratings wise we have him as a POT 5-6-7. Typical international. He fits of profile of some INTL's we've had success with in the past. At 18 he's got all the time in the world.
