Saw that about Cannell. I realized then he is out of his freaking mind.

After you responded, I remembered I asked this before.

Can someone (Brad?) update the rules to reflect this?

I'd like to think it goes like this:

All of his friends are like, "Look at that Giant, someone should kill it, it takes huge dumps and stuff." Then, one guy's like "Yeah, but who? Not me 'cause I'm so small." Then Hanrahan chimes in like "Well, I guess I'm tall, so I'll do it." The Giants make fun of him at first 'cause he's so small, but he's like "Well, where I come from I'm pretty tall." Then they all laugh till they piss in their pants. So he goes out and kills him two or three Giants and everyone calls him "Giant Killer" and he really likes it, so he keeps doing it. Yeah! WTF?!

This is really getting annoying. If one more FA signs with another team for a smaller contract than the one I offered, I'm going to lose it.

Do players prefer the salary to be divided a certain way? (Evenly? Back-loaded?) I typically offer more up-front to veterans and less as they get older. But no on will sign with me, even though the contract is worth more than the one they eventually sign with someone else. This blows.

Just think your getting some bad luck. Usually there is not pattern with front versus back load, depends on the player.

Do you mind posting who you lost out on? I'm curious about something.

Also, I went through this a few years ago. What I did was the first FA sim I made an offer significantly higher than their demands. I signed some guys, and might've overpaid, but at least I got some guys.

To be honest, I've wondered in the past if location and/or market size influenced a player's decision. My location hasn't changed but my market size has increased. Apparently that didn't matter. Then I thought maybe my manager had something to do with it, but my manager handles veterans well.

I must have tossed my little scrap paper that had my offers written on it, but I remember Windy City legitimately out-bid me for Guardamagni. I also went after MR Kraft, OF Bamentos, and SP Parongao. I think Kraft and Bamentos gave me the finger. I want to say I made the same offer as Carolina for Parongao.

Oh well...I decided to take Jim's advice and I plunked some $$$ down on a middle reliever. Probably over-paid, but I wanted to get something out of FA.

PS - Funclown is a gentleman and a scholar. A frustrated gentleman and scholar; but a gentleman and scholar nonetheless.
