  • How are your Rule 5s doing? (1981)

I made one of these threads last year, so people could talk about the success or disappointments with their Rule 5s.

1st round pick: SP Jack Cantrell - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_2172.html
I drafted him expecting him to be my #5 starter, but I went in another direction via free agency, and he has been relegated to the pen, mostly mop up duty. He pitched well in spring training, and in a mop-up game, he pitched 4 IP giving up only 1ER, with three K's and no walks.

2nd round pick: RF Nicolas Faurrieta - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...layer_741.html
I drafted him expecting him to be my 4th or 5th OF. He has done well in that role, actually, really well. He has a .939 OPS in 25 games, but only 50 ABs. I am giving him four starts this week to see what he can do with more playing time.

3rd round pick: MR Xever Garced - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_1499.html
Pitched well in seven games for me, but I have since traded him off.

4th round pick: SP Anton Estalilla - http://ootp.oldredboat.com/news/html...ayer_1645.html
Got hurt in his first spring training game, and has been on the DL ever since.

    What about your picks?
    Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-
    Seattle Pilots- 2017-2041
    Washington Bats - 1979-2013

I already sent Joey Beal back to Davenport, so the only one I have left is SP Rayford Winchel.

I thought I had gotten a steal after his first few starts, but he's just been rocked in the past 3. I'll probably be taking him out of the rotation, though I don't want to send him back.

        Pretty happy with mine:

        - C Tim Crump - .340 BA, .997 OPS in 17 games
        - MR Eddie Taylor - 1.08 ERA in 8.1 IP

I'm probably sending Lafantano back to Hartford this week. He's 2-3 with a 6.09 ERA so far.

One of mine from last year just missed ROY...Tim Zimerman. He hit .296 in 130 games last year. He's my starting second baseman and leadoff hitter. He's off to a great start this year, hitting .322 in 29 games. He turned out much better than expected, especially when going from AA to BLB.

This year I have 2, Baggett and Randez. Baggett's not doing too great but Randez has been decent.

Antonio "I'm Not Byron Leftwhich" Neill

Getting almost exactly what I hoped to get from him in his role. .282/.317/.410. Not great, but dent. Of his 22 hits, he has 10 doubles. I love his potentail and what he gives me.

I've always wondered what rules 1,2,3 and 4 are also.

Rule 4 is the Ammy draft. That's the only one I know.
