I used the 7 day last year, but not sure its very effective if the series goes past say game 4.

No, you can't really use 7 day lineups in the playoffs.

        Man that's a bummer.

I wanted the 1-day playoff tiebreaker sim and wanted the championship series to be broken up...now I want the playoffs to go week by week.

I really don't think it would take any longer.

Rd 1 - Wed (Thur if necessary)
Rd 2 - Fri (Sat or Sun if necessary)
Rd 3 - Mon, Wed (Fri if necessary)

It's the same time frame. I guess I've just always felt that we rush the playoffs (even when I haven't been in them). Plus for those who use 7 day lineups throughout the season why would you want to lose that control come the biggest time of the year.

It's not as difficult to manage as you'd think. You're really not going to change lineups unless someone gets injured, so it's really a matter of rotation. With the off-day between cities, there's never an issue of rest even if you're only throwing a 4-man rotation which most do.

We do move through the playoffs fairly quickly. I've always felt the same... but I'm one of those people in the minority that would SIM everyday of the week.

Our system works for the most part. I think breaking up the Finals was the right move.

Like Clay said its not that difficult to manage. No matter how much you tweak it in the end, its who gets hot at the right time. In the older OOTP leagues I had a team that won 115+ games only to be eliminated by Jistic two years in a row.

Also, you don't want the other 16 owners having to waiting on the sidelines for a long period of time. I like the playoff pace we have.

As I've said year's past... I'm not opposed to spreading out the playoffs (though I do think people risk "over thinking")... but I'd like to see us baby-step it. We're spreading out the Finals this year. If that goes well, maybe we'll vote on spreading out the LCS... etc.

As we've said countless times... the most important thing in an online league is momentum... just don't want to turn the playoffs into 3 weeks of SIMs.

Yeah I hope the playoffs don't become a 4 week ordeal every year. And people usually bitch about lineups etc. when they lose.

As far as this year we go through this every year. There will be a "hot" team that gets knocked out quick and probably a not so hot team pull of an upset.

It "should" be the #1's in the final but history tells us at least one won't be there.

Since Clay is the commish I'm going with Pawtucket not being there.

So it's 1 vs. Wild Card and 2 vs. 3.

I thought that's how it always was?

The issue was with in-division Wildcard vs. 1 Seed. The MLB disallows those teams from facing against each other, but OOTP doesn't take that into consideration.

edit: Ah, I see now that the confusion was we thought it was 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3. I kept reading 4 as Wild Card because they are the fourth seed, but I didn't realize everyone else that said that meant 4th best record.

Well, either way, it is interesting.

It wasn't 1 vs wild card last season. Virginia played Davenport and Philly played the wild card winning Bats in the first round. So maybe they fixed the intradivisional WC issue in this version?

We were on the same version last year. It must be just the MLB rule for ruling out divisional matchups in Round 1. It just rarely happens in the BLB.

If we spread the playoffs out week by week (like the season) it's 6 weeks...which if we do M-W-F that is only 2 real weeks. With a minimum of coaches that have to export we can even go quicker than that.

I thought I might have a chance against Balt. We have 2 hot pitchers, and just took 3 of 4 from them.

Looking at Virginia. 17 in a row and fire graphics by every pitcher...awesome.
