I think Mel will get a few more votes than you think.

I think he'll get votes. Still contemplating adding him to the PIMP thread. I just look at his season next to Chavez' and I think HC was just flat out better... so it's hard to pimp Woodbury.

4-2 week for the Tobs, losing 2/3 to Batavia before sweeping Los Alamos. We're down 3 games with 7 to play, so it's over but its been nice to see my team play some decent ball in August and September. We could have 2 straight winning months if we win the series @ Windy City and I don't remember the last time I could say that. Maybe this bodes well for the future, but who knows.

In one of our games this week we started 7 rookies, so I hope the young guys are learning something.

I'm looking forward to 1993. I think if I can add a couple of pieces, we might be able to get back to .500.

I think I disagree. It'd be hard for me to be persuaded not to vote Woodbury #1. He put up monster numbers...in just 128 games. It'll be interesting how the voting shapes up because when I look at Chavez's numbers stacked against Woodbury's, I think Mel's are much more impressive.

In Tobs minor league news this week (because I know you all can't get enough):

Aparicio Scoops up MASH Top Hurler Award
Saturday, September 26th, 1992: 19-year-old Val Aparicio of the Charleston Rebels put together a good year in 1992 for such a young player. Aparicio was named today as the winner of the The Mash Outstanding Pitcher Award.

Aparicio crafted an impressive 15-5 record and a 2.36 ERA. In 164 innings he allowed 128 hits, struck out 153, and walked 65.

Ismael Reyes Named Premier BCC Batsman
Monday, September 21st, 1992: Ismael Reyes of the Winston-Salem Warthogs had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Outstanding Hitter Award for 1992.

The 25-year-old first baseman put up a .348 average and a .425 on-base percentage, piling up 178 hits, 53 doubles, 1 triple, 22 home runs, 86 RBIs and 93 runs scored.

Single-A awards get announced this week, but I shouldn't have any winners there.

Well... it certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to see Woodbury win his 5th in a row. Chavez' best days are still ahead.

This is how I feel. I haven't really compared and thought it through, but Woodbury getting hurt might help him here. I'm not sure he'll get enough first place votes, but you never know. His numbers in the time he played are extremely impressive and his OPS+ is beastly.

                    3-3 (88-67 overall)

One is the magic number. In the next week the Muckdogs play California 3 times and Baltimore 4...and either need Washington to go 0-7 for the week...or just win 1 game themselves! If that happens then Batavia will reach the postseason for their 1st time in franchise history and more than likely the BLB world will end.

In all honesty a 2-5 week with no injuries would be a dream. If we reach 90 wins that's an 18 game improvement over last year and something to be very proud of. We don't have the stars, but we play well as a team.

Your Magic Number is 1.... so you don't even have to win... you just need Washington to lose 1. Consider it done.

I can't believe I messed that up! So if they go 6-1 and I go 0-7 I'm still in.

Well there is still a chance so we won't celebrate too soon. My new days off from work are M-T-W so hopefully we can have a "weekend" of partying after Monday's sim.

Correct. You need one win or one DC loss. I don't think I could even intentionally lose to Washington if I tried... So I'd say you're safe. ;)

                            3-3....but we are PORTER CHAMPS!!!!!!

Feels good. We've been a bit banged up and it looks like our stars will rest for the final week of the season. We are set to play our division mates in the playoffs which, I'm sure will be a battle.

Hey champ, what would it take to get a banner?
