They are ready to pitch but they are below 100%. I'm not sure how obvious that is to some people.
I've always wondered about this, but everytime I check at the beginning of the sim - even 7 game sims - my next starter is always sitting at 100%. Do you get different readings?

Completely agree. This whole season Pawtucket n#5,#6 spots were in constant rotation based on matchups, hot/cold players, ect. Setting the rotation is just a back up incase I can't get to the 7 day lineup which is very rare.

I get different ones all the time. The main reason I went to six-man was because of it. I saw my pitchers struggling and immediately after the switch my guys pitched better.

Maybe it was just good timing but when I went to a five-man again earlier this season, I saw Gray get hurt and my arms struggle through May.

It helps if you have six capable pitchers. If you don't then you have to make a choice. Also I should note that prior to some callups my guys weren't exactly holding high marks in stamina. Greene, Murillo, Poole, Mullen, last year Rodriguez and McDonald. Those names had 6 or less in endurance.

I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

Instead of strict order, which I prefer, you can basically only use a day off to move up in your rotation a better pitcher...which in the end is just another start towards the inevitable arm falling off injury.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. I have 100% control over which pitcher starts which game using the 7-day lineup. How is this not exactly the desired ability?

Because if that pitcher isn't at 100% or a desired rest %, he's still forced to start.

What I want is control over when a pitcher starts depending on their rest % and who should take his place if he isn't rested.

I'd like to be able to say, Starter #3 isn't fully rested, move him to the next day and give Spot Starter #1 the start.

So you have 100% control over a 7-day forecast, but you don't have day-to-day control. We are hampered by the inability to make day of game decisions. You know oh too well how that can change an entire season.

But if you control your rotation, it's never an issue.

I've used a 6-man rotation all season and never started a tired starter even on our stretch where where we played like 16 straight games. If you just lock in a 6-man, you never throw a tired guy... plus, on weeks where there is a break, you can tweak to play matchups (e.g. I use to stack my L's against teams like B'More).

Agreed. I mean for a five man rotation. I should have clarified that.

Yea, there's no issue with 6-man. That's why I use it.

The issue is with a five-man rotation. I guess you can use Highest Rested Starter, but that still leaves too much control to the AI Manager.

That being said, I don't have a huge problem with it because I like to believe that I hired my Manager so he could make those bone head decisions that anger me after a sim.

Guardamagni picked up his first win and added two more strike outs to the total.

For those keeping track, he's now 3 games away from 200 wins and 5 K's away from 3,000.

Los Lunas is already planning Guardamagni Day, the next time he comes to town. All fans with a game ticket get in free to the post-game memorial pig roast.

Re pitcher rest: I think having a team doctor that's rated well in fatigue recovery helps too.
