I think the rest of the league needs to catch up with a lot of folks who have realized that this is not a 31-33 start league for Starters. It's a 6-man rotation league where top flight ACEs are looking at 26-29 starts in a regular season. I don't think it's a coincidence that arm injuries start to pile up late in the season.
I had a September callup hit a HR in the same game in which he gave up 5 ER in less than 1 IP (135.1 ERA for his career after his first appearance). It's like spring training for us right now.
At least he can always say he was one of those rare players that hit a HR in his first big league at bat. I don't know what looks more strange - The 135+ ERA or the OPS of 5.000.

If that's what needs to be done, I'll do it. But rather than go to a 6 man rotation, I instead put ALL my SPs on a pitch count. I'm pretty sure Brode is probably is on a count for 95 pitches. Considering that most MLB pitchers are at a max of 110-120, I think that's pretty good and saves him probably an inning a game.
I would think injuries would be based on IP/pitches thrown vs. # of starts. But this game has so many bugs in it as far as I'm concerned so who knows.

I would have thought the same... but the little bit of research I've done... sure seems like it's less about the IPs than games.
Brode has gone down w/ significant arm injuries on 7/26/87, 9/7/89 and 9/11/92.
The thing about OOTP is it's all about catastrophic pitcher injuries. There aren't a lot of day to day, miss a few starts, injuries to keep games started down. Would taking him out of the rotation or going 6 man help? Maybe. Or maybe he's just statistically liable for an arm injury every 60 starts. Can spreading those 60 out to 3 seasons drop the injury chance? Things we can only guess.

I did the same mid season 91 and have to say it does work. There are parts of the season you can run a 5 man staff, but I try to keep it to 3-4 sims for the season(Not counting the playoffs).
I wonder if this has anything to do with the OOTP versions thru the years?
Since we are giving away trade secrets. Pitchers are almost never fully rested after four days.
They are ready to pitch but they are below 100%. I'm not sure how obvious that is to some people.
And OOTP is built on a system of random injuries and injuries from fatigue. So the more that pitcher is throwing at less than 100% the higher his risk of injury.
I've noticed starters go down quicker and longer than relievers. I think it's because the AI managers sit relievers that are stressed while we force starts on the rotation no matter their health.
Personally, I wish we had more options. Im not saying we need 7-man rotations but the Spot Starter is inconsistent. There should be a percentage of starts and also a measure for when they should start depending on the health of the scheduled starter.
It gets tough to manage your rotation when your team plays seven straight days and your ace pitches in two of them without a break.

7-day Lineups. I've chosed the starter for every game this season. Total control.
The only thing 7 day lineups do is let a great pitcher pitch more IMO.
Instead of strict order, which I prefer, you can basically only use a day off to move up in your rotation a better pitcher...which in the end is just another start towards the inevitable arm falling off injury.
It's spring training in September for the Hartford Injured Reserves...make this nightmare end. Looks like Victor Garcia has the inside track on Villazon's departed spot or Godron's TJ spot. I also now have 300 minor league OFs to choose from on their way up (or back from IR)...

Split with Hyundai and Sin City, then took 2 of 3 from Pawtucket. Doesn't feel like a playoff-bound team. And all of a sudden my middle relief is in the shitter.
