Question about possible expansion for 1982

I've heard some rumbling about possible expansion for 1982, and I was wondering if this was still going to happen. If so, how would the new teams scout the league for possible expansion picks.

If the new teams arent announced until this offseason, they wont have enough time to scout all of the players made available to them. Will a special report be made available for the expansion teams that contains actual ratings of players? I doubt that would be fair, but if the new teams dont have enough time to scout all of the players in the league, all they would have to go on would be the SISA scouting reports, and they are less than desirable.

I hope this all makes sense.

Just a curious hopefull owner in waiting wondering if this had been given any consideration.

And when I say an official announcement, I don't mean, "Yes, we are expanding" or "No, we are not." Just a statement of where we are.

A lot of our thoughts on expanding depend on how most of this season goes, in terms of owner turnover.

Oh, yeah, thats fine. I'm not gonna lie, I want a team, either by expansion or by way of another owner leaving. I'd just hate for myself, or for some other schmoe for that matter, not to have good info when it comes to putting together their team.

This league seems to be well run, and I'm sure that this sort of thing will be taken well care of, but I just wondered what everybody was thinking.

I think we are going to battle that limitation going into expansion. However, with the Minor League Manager set-up, aren't you able to see scouted ratings? I mean, to be honest, jump at that while you can because expansion teams are going to have really awful scouts in the beginning just based on what is left to choose from.

Yeah, I can see ratings and I have my own scout, but he is REALLY bad. Plus, I probably wouldnt have access to my scout if I was able to secure an expansion team, if that makes sense. Anyway, I was just wondering.

We won't be expanding during the 1982 off-season. The way the schedule is going to pan out, we'd be right in the middle of it when I take off 3 weeks for my wedding. I don't want to have that kind of break when we're in the thick of it.

We will definitely expand by 4 teams during the 1983 off-season, barring any huge expansion bugs. A rough schedule will be:

- Finalize expansion rules by end of 1982 regular season
- Award expansion teams to Owners during 1982 off-season
- Teams can build stadiums, create logo's and uniforms, etc
- Add expansion teams after 1982 playoffs/start of 1983 off-season. We will also realign at this time.
