So... in less than one IN-GAME year (6/11/91 - 6/8/92), Dani Alvarez plays for 4 different BLB teams. Something seems so off about that.

It does seem like that, but that also may just be because it's in the chunks that we view it. If there were an easy way to view/break it down in different chunks besides months, we may look at them in different ways.

I'd say that's the beauty/craziness of baseball in general. Guys hit the ball hard, go on long cold streaks, they hit a few bleeders and they go on a long hitting streak.

It comes and goes in spurts, you just have to hope a couple guys get hot at the same time and ride the wave to as many wins as possible.

For Baltimore to be sitting at 18-1 this month is just amazing...or sickening. How good could we have been if Kubota hadn't laughed at our offer? And how awesome did Castor turn out to be? Probably the best young player in the league right now.

3-3 for us...outstanding week pitching...pretty decent week hitting. Unfortunately we lost 2 more 1-run games. The month of June has been absolutely cruel to us.

Yea, Castor becoming what I'd hope he'd become and Kubota is better than I'd ever imagine he could be in a Bulldog uniform. The funny thing is, we've gone on this run with Wallace on the DL.

I'm almost afraid to let him back on the field.

I gambled a bit and stuck MR Manny Ramirez in the middle of my rotation to get better match-ups against Pawtucket. That kinda/sorta worked. But then Dallas snuck up and kicked me in the ass. Must be Ninja Turtles.

Back to back 6-0 weeks and we are 18-1 in June and are continuing to roll. We've done all of this without Wallace in the lineup and I can only hope that he doesn't break up the groove we are in when he returns to action next week.

The Week in Review

- Young Star: In just his 2nd year in the BLB, Don Castor is making a name for himself as, arguably, the most dangerous young slugger in the league. He leads the entire BLB in both home runs and RBI and has powered Baltimore to a commanding 10-game lead in the Porter and an 18-1 record over the last 3 weeks. All of this without the bat of the injured, Loren Wallace.

-One Man's Trash: You know the rest. Darryl Turner (OF) was an 8th round pick of the Washington Bats back in 1984. Bounced around from system to system since 1989, Turner may have found a home in Baltimore after performing admirably the last week. Turner hit .429 last week including two multi-RBI bombs in our sweep of Davenport.

Closing by Committee: Following our heartbreaking losses to the Stout, I figured that the closing role was just too much for young Don McKay to handle on his own. We moved veteran reliever, Jeronimo DeLacy to help out with the workload and it has worked wonders. In the month of June, DeLacy has gone 3-0 with 6 saves and no earned runs in 10 innings, while McKay has gone 1-1 with 3 saves and just a .90 ERA.

Next Up:
I know that Clay....I mean the baseball gods, will not allow this streak to continue so we will enjoy it while it lasts. We face two struggling squads in Carolina and Los Alamos. But, we have had our own struggles away from home so I think our streak probably ends this week. It should, however, still be interesting to see if Wallace can pick up where he left off before his injury.
