When was the last time Pittsburgh won anything?

Oh, when JJ still ran the team, that's right...

I led the Freedom out of the inaugural cellar to a pennant and established them as a perennial power in the IL.

Then I took over a Pittsburgh franchise that was $28M in debt -- the brokest team in league history up to that point -- and improved the team's record in every season I've been here, turning the deficit into an enormous profit in the process.

        I do okay.

Pawtucket 3-3. We ended the 12 game road trip 7-5 which cannot complain. We laid a turd a home is sim which is not the usual

          Some good news:

Opio back from injury. He seems to protect the big hitters in the lineup a bit

2B/SS Ral Zamora- still doing his job
2B Jerry Robbins- moderate suprise filling in for Jimmy Joy injury.

          The bad:

Ok a minor change coming. Vern Peterson is in at n#6, P Raul Guzmn gonna spend sometime in the pen. Raul did well in the playoffs here so just curious on how he handles the move. Also wanted to see if Vern has any hope of salvaging his career.

Summary not horrible week, but dont want to spend the next few sims spinning our wheels with 3-3.

              Same question still stands:

              When has Pittsburgh won anything?

Really? I don't think Squint did anything to help this franchise succeed...he was here for the inaugural season (didn't make the playoffs) and didn't export once for the entire off-season and I took over on opening day '79. I fail to see how that would be described as "riding the coattails."

You took over a team that won 85 games the year before and had the 5th highest payroll in the league.

Just pointing out the distinction between taking over a team that was already good, and my taking over two franchises that lost 104 games and 108 games, respectively, when I got here.

                                Agree to disagree.

The farm in D.C. was completely bare when I got here. Majority of my "good" players were 35+. Bill Gentry, Jonathan Brinkworth, Wayne Deel, etc. etc. A handful of key contributors to the great "85 win season" retired before I even took over the franchise.

But you're right, because of the great work of negligence in regular exports by Squint during the '78 season and off-season, it really layed the framework for this is franchise to be the best the IL has ever seen.
