  • SIM COMPLETE - 1981 - ST 1

First half of ST is up. Tough break for California in the Lakin trade. :( Seems like there were a bunch of injuries, but I guess it's not bad for a 2 week sim

Lost my lead off hitter (starting 3B) for two-three weeks. Lost one of my RP for eight.

Yay, my promising young reliever on the shelf for 2 months. Kellum's out, too. Man, tough break for California and Lakin.

      Injuries galore.

Sucks for Larkin and California, but look at dudes injury history in '80. Kid is lucky to be alive.

This is absurd. Iliquez is out for 12 months with a pinched nerve in his neck, and Taporco is out 7 months with a herniated disc. 2/3 of my starting OF, great. What is going on with these injuries?

Exactly... apparently the phrase "Day Off" does not translate well in Los Lunas.

We don't believe in Days Off in Los Lunas. For the most part he performed well, compared to what I had on the bench. You now see why I wanted him out of Los Lunas, though.

Man, I didn't realize what happened to Lakin when I made that post. That really sucks. If this was a normal sim, I would have DFA'd Lakin so he wouldn't get hurt. But, since this was a long sim, I didn't want him to run out of DFA time and get released and get charged for his contract. I feel really bad by that result :(

Yep, it is a crappy situation. Any other sim and he would've been DFA'd. This isn't to say that he wouldn't have been hurt later on down the line, but this is really a tough break.

What also sucks is that Andrew's new rule about trading came a day after this trade and I'm sure was overlooked by the two teams involved post-trade. If Lakin would've at least been injured while on California's roster it would've made the injury a little more palatable.

FWIW, it looks like the Sergio Lumar trade isn't as great as I thought. Ray Royal took a pretty significant drop in his potentials :(
