Think how dangerous our teams would be, Jitsic, if we had 200 million budgets!

Honestly, this whole debate right now is silly. Still a lot of season left. If I were Baltimore, I'd be a little worried about talking the talk til I've walked the walk. I'd say act like you've been there before...but you haven't.

We all believe the IL is a 3 horse race with Virginia being the overwhelming favorite. Let's see how things shake out.

Jokes are one of the few things that shouldn't be recycled.

            Hey, I'm the underdog here.

If I talk shit and lose, hey I was "supposed" to lose, right? But if I talk shit and win, Virginia and the Stoutetts will never hear the end of it......

sounds like a win/win to me.

                I wish it was.

I love the "humility" but you have as good of a chance as Washington, Batavia or even Windy City/Davenport to get that wild card.

                  California Kodiaks (12-20)
                  1-2 @ Wilmington
                  1-2 vs. Washington

                  Good:

Welcome back Robby - Robby Shannon finally seemed to realize the season had already started putting up a .333/.500/.600/1.100 line. Shannon, the Kodiaks only power threat also posted his first Home Run of the season.

The Brady Bunch - SP/RP Scott Brady continues to impress in his short time with the big league club. In 14 IP, Brady has managed to post a 2/1 K/BB ratio as well as a healthy 7.53 K/9 rate. With an ERA below 2, California is hoping they've found something in the early season waiver claim.

Throwing strikes is as easy as 1..2..3.. - Gene Robinson continues to impress in his first full season with the Kodiaks. While the right handed hurler does not pick up many strike outs (4.70 K/9) he gets by thanks to excellent command (1.64 BB/9). The ability to limit the traffic on the basepaths has helped Robinson post a 1.07 WHIP through 6 starts.

                  Bad:

Manny not ready? - Rookie Manny Martinez has been lit up in his two starts in the BLB so far. Small sample size aside, Martinez may not be ready for the bright lights quite yet.

Up the middle without a bat - Howard Haydon and Roger Willis, the Kodiaks starting SS and 2B both went 2/19 for the week. While they aren't expected to hit for power, it would be nice if they would pick up a base hit from time to time.

Everybody Zhang Chung tomorrow? - OF prospect Zuo-qian Zhang was injured again this week, his sixth injury in three years of minor league ball. Blessed with massive potential, one has to wonder if Zhang will ever be on the field enough to show the ability scouts once saw in him.
                  California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013
                  Brewmaster's Cups: 1987
                  Import League Champions: 1987, 1989
                  Porter Division Champions:
                  1986, 1987, 1989, 1999
                  , 2000

Humility? I finished with the second worst record in the league last year. Our youngin's are a year older and we added a few vets, but we're not pretending to be contenders. .500 ball is a reasonable goal for this year, and we're sticking to it.

Actually, saying I have a shot at the wildcard only proves that the IL is in a sad state outside of Virginia and Baltimore.

Linty, I put a waiver claim in on Brady, too. I was a little upset not to get him. My scout sees a little something in him. Nothing spectacular, but he'll definitely help a pitching staff.

I put in a claim as well, for what it's worth.

Sully, as bad as the IL looks, I think the DL may be worse off.

I miss how you're the underdog... Not only have you proclaimed many times how good your team is, but took it a step further by pointing out that the supposed best team is easily handled with a mediocre rotation. Doesn't sound like an underdog to me.

What's wrong? Can the Champs not stand a little heat?

Just because the rest of the IL wants to throw rose petals at your feet, kiss your Converse, and let you bask in the sunlight as the IL elite, doesn't mean I will. You have competition this year, buddy.

I'm pretty sure either you or one of the Stoutettes mentioned that "the champs stay as such until someone takes them out."

By definition, that makes me the underdog............... Champ!!!!

Completely disagree. You have a "handful" of good teams where we seem to be alot competitive. Sorry, but ur division itself sucks.
