California Kodiak (7-12)
0-3 @ Batavia
2-2 @ Philadelphia
Good:
Pitchers seeing double - Tad Jackson, who led the BLB with 62 2B in 1991, is off to a fast start once again this year with 13 doubles in three weeks. Combined with his stellar defense and the removal of Geoff Scott from the division, Jackson may finally have a shot at making the 1992 IL All-Star team.
"Who is that man?" - Unheralded CF Angelo Hernandez had a big week with the bat hitting .348 and posting an .870 OPS. The reigning gold glove winner in CF, Hernandez is paid to catch the ball, anything we get from his bat is a plus.
Float like a butterfly... - Willie Simmons, a member of the AAA Bakersfield Cannons, recently recorded his first shut out of the season going 9 IP while striking out 8. Simmons, one of the few knuckleballers in all of baseball, has now recorded 23 complete games and 10 shut outs in the last four seasons.
Bad:
Power outage - Just as last year, California continues to struggle in the power department. Currently sitting last in the league in home runs, the Kodiaks have only mustered three in the first three weeks of the season.
Can't buy a hit - For the week, the Kodiaks put up a pathetic .211/.256/.306/.562 line while only scoring 15 runs in seven games.
Rough streets of Sacramento - SP prospect Heui-chung Pak was mugged leaving the grocery store while buying formula for his three month old baby girl. In the ensuing melee, Pak broke his knee cap and will miss the next seven months.Last edited by Lintyfresh85; 01-12-2011, 03:11 PM.California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013

Pawtucket 5-2
Did what we had to against Maine (2-1)/ Pitts (3-1). Again its so early, just trying to keep a nice pace.
Other notes:
Hector Snchez nice start so far as for the pitching in general. May have an early bust with Griffin. See how long he goes until he tests my patience.
As stated earlier, offense sucking ass in spring as they did last year. Ral Zamora batting over .300 and 16 DP to start the year! Carmen is just being Carmen at the moment!!!PAWTUCKET PATRIOTS

Also, tell Manny Mendez to stop trying to outshine Chet Poole. We don't like that very much here in Denver.

Congrats on "winning" the off-season though. ;)
I'm not that surprised, although I figured we'd at worst be around .500. Sad thing is, our pitching has been fantastic (seriously - ERA doesn't say it but it's been good) and it's the bats that are letting us down. Greg Josey is done - put a fork in him. Bolton's a bum. The other guys (outside of Carbajal, Scott, and to a point Underwood) are inconsistent at best.
Nice artwork Clay. I just wish it wasn't true.Charlotte Knights - OSFL

I'm enjoying the winning sims so far. Not sure how we squeaked 5-2 out of this week, but we'll take it. Pitching was just OK, but the hitting was much worse. Not sure what happened there.
Either way, really close games this week, we just ended up on the right side of 'em.
