Could, but then I have to start taking way too much into consideration.

I had years that my payroll was much lower than now because the guys were all rookies. My payroll is so high now because Murillo, Browning, Seltzer, Borkholder, Al-Sadat and on are getting paid real money.

It's just too much information I'd have to gather - information that probably becomes opinionated - in order to really figure how much this person's $50 MM payroll was really worth.

What would be really cool is if we had an in-game system that estimated a player's worth vs. other players in the league by performance. There are systems like that for MLB. We don't have that in the BLB or in the Utilities. That would be cool. Then you could look at Player X who was a rookie and find that he was equal to a player getting paid $10 MM. Now you can adjust and see how much a team's payroll would have been in X year and then devise a formula that awards or deducts points from a team's finish.

Wow, I'm excited just thinking about it.

Hmm, could consider that. I do like the idea. I'll toy with it.

Any other suggestions from you or anyone?

I'm willing to look into adding other factors.

Blah, do not call it Shavermetrics+.

It is a work in progress, but I think it did well in its infant stage.

One thing I'd like to get it to do is not have any ties. I have ideas.

(Also, I'm thinking a suitable name is Total Rankings. But, I want an acronym because those are cool).

Your list came up pretty similar to the one I posted, which isn't too surprising since you used almost the exact same inputs that I did, including the 90 & 100 win/loss seasons.

However, I changed my list slightly after it spit out results that I didn't agree with (no, it didn't help my team).

Did you change it by adjusting the formula or you just moved things around?

I just moved some teams around. Minor adjustments in the middle of the list, really. I was going to try and change the formula a bit to see if I can get something I liked better, but never got around to it.

Any list that puts Denver ahead of Carolina is clearly erroneous.

Haha. Denver or Carolina flip depending on the list, it seems.

A better win percentage than Sin City, Los Alamos, Pawtucket, Cali, and Morgantown...yet all we get are ** by our name. At least Cali has a championship.

It's hard to see how a team like Batavia is improving just based on this because it goes season-by-season. But, as you can see with teams like Virginia, Baltimore and Pawtucket having huge jumps, the climb through the ranks happen so long as the team erases past failures with new successes.

I was hoping to do some more research today, but I blame work. It's OK, I'm dedicating most of the summer to mapping it out.
