My general impression of OOTP 2006 was that the variation in performance from year to year was less than IRL. It seemed to me that too many players essetially had the same stats year after year. I imagine disappointing performances and teams acquiring players that underperformed expectations have been around as long as baseball has.

BTW, I noticed that Hoeft received one of those development reports indicating his ratings had dropped. Those have always been a part of this game and I think the game would be unrealistic without some form of unexpected ratings changes.
