I spent the $ with the expectation he can be a # 3. If he does better than that it's a bonus. I just needed another legit starter to put in the rotation along Lindsey and the experiments that will be Julian Rodriguez, Don McDonald and eventually (fingers crossed) Godron.

It can't be any worse than having to pitch Sanford, Villazon or Recalde as my #2, 3, and 4 for the last few seasons when Lindsey and/or Mapalo went down.

I really like the options/depth I have now with my staff. When Bobby Sizer is your best closing option and a TJ'ed Von Evans is your set-up man for two entire seasons things have to be better.

I was in on Goodwin, but not for that money or those years. I'm very, very hesitant to sign anyone to that kind of money for anything longer than 3 years or so. Especially a pitcher who has yet to "put it all the way together" as Clay so eloquently put it.

In other news, we now have the #3 system in the BLB, featuring 5 of the top 34 prospects. I'm not convinced Gene Crews is the real deal, but I have high expectations for Celedon (long term) and my triumvirate of pitching prospects.

Yeah, I went back and forth on it a ton. We'll see how it goes. I had the $ room so I made the move. I only have 3 players to extend - Lindsey, Andrew and Rodriguez. Villazon's $8m comes off the books next season and I drop to a projected 19.4m w/out extensions.

Morgan is somehow a prospect again, despite dropping off the list last year and winning Refreshing New Brew. Besides him, I'm glad to see Rivera and Simms on the list.

                  I'll take it.

I'd love to have someone blindly trading picks before the Internationals (who were the cream of the crop last season) come in.

Whoops forgot about those guys. The American kids, as it stands right now, aren't looking too hot.

                      Riddle Me This, Batman

I offered minor league contracts to two players who, according to the "Contract Offer" page, were willing to accept minor league contracts. Both players rejected my offer and said they wanted a major league contract. When I went back to the Contract Page, it still said that the players were willing to accept a minor league contract, but that they favored an offer from another team. I assumed the other teams had offered major league contracts. But I see now both players accepted minor league contracts with those teams. (This all happened in one sim.)

Were the player responses to me just poor wording; and these guys just preferred playing for a different organization?

Yeah, I think its just a matter of the game not having the ability to communicate that scenerio.

I've always assumed that to be the case as well.

The game use to have players say something like: "I have no interest in playing with your team." And they wouldn't even open negotiations.

That was a number of versions ago, though. So I think now OOTP will listen to all offers, but the players will still favor a club over another. I don't know what goes into what they favor but you would hope location, position battle, opportunity, club history would have something to do with it.

I wish players could have friendships with each other and their managers like in Championship/Football Manager.

That would be a cool feature.

Something else that I'd like to see is something in the coding that made a player want to be somewhere. For instance, if a guy grew up in that state/city, or if he played with a guy on the team, or if he knew one of the coaches or he's a pitcher and he likes the defense the team has. Better whores in a particular city. Whatever. A lot of good scenarios here to work with.

I missed on every single big FA I offered, and I offered an absolute ton of money to some of these guys, more than they signed for with other teams. Oh well, even if the draft sucks this year I'll have the #1 pick again next season.

I dont think the draft is as terrible as advertised. Little bit more even from what I see maybe not as top heavy. Plus as Clay said , Intl players not out yet.
