Boring. Bovey sure cashed in nicely for a 38-year-old though.

Washington (surprise!) signed two minor leaguers the first sim of Free-Agency, RP Daryl O'Day and CF Danny Martinez.

O'Day was a 4th round pick in '88, was the #28 rated prospect in '89 and #50 in '90. However, he was not a top prospect to start '91 and hasn't been able to succeed at the Double-A level.

Martinez is a 5th OF type. Defensive replacement and pinch runner specialist.

I like the Lorral signing by Indy. I was hopeful that I could low-ball Lorral and get him on the cheap. Should be solid again even at 38-years-old. I'm a big Bovey fan, but I'm not sure about two guaranteed years. Risky.

Good luck with O'Day. I got tired of his struggles to perform at Double-A despite his expectations. If he weren't 25 and still a A ball player, I would have kept him.

Just taking a flyer on the guy. Might even give him a ST invite and see if he runs with it.

I considered Bovey, but his age and fragile tag scared me off at that amount. Still, when healthy, the guy produces.

He wanted 7 million to resign in Baltimore. Guess he wanted to play for a champion.

I didn't think he'd take a one year deal, but I'm happy to have him. He can start and will allow me to move one of last years starters to the bullpen for some depth there.

It's possible he just needed to go to AAA. I've seen that happen sometimes with players.

I've seen that too. I also think he might be a guy who needs a specific role. I've seen that happen with players a lot as well. Despite the fact that they have the ability to start, they might be better out of the pen.
