This is pre-trades, correct? As much as I'd like that first round pick, I'm afraid I traded it.

I'm looking forward to this draft, considering how nice the OSFL draft was.

Maybe I'll actually take a pitcher this year. As good as my first rounders are/could be (Henshall, Steward, Haydon), I don't need them nearly as much as I do starters. The only pitcher I did take in the 1st was Boivin last year who already decided to flame out.

is this version of ootp actually going have diamonds in the rough? ie: late rounders that actually pan out to something?

Nope, it's a straight style draft.

Yup. That was one of the thing Markus improved/added.

From data during testing, yes. They measured it in terms of HOFers and more came from the later rounds than in previous versions. A lot depends on your scouting as well. While it's not very likely that your scouts will find somebody that nobody else's does, it's pretty common for your scouts to love a guy that isn't that good. This will result in more "busts" with decent players dropping to lower rounds. Just look at anybody Pawtucket has drafted for examples of this. :D

Here's a couple blogs about it for more details:

How many rounds are we gonna be doing via the utility? the reason I ask, is that the in game engine does a much better job at auto-picking, compared to the utility since we have scouts on. I guess after a certain point in the draft, it might not matter.

All rounds. I'm fine with the utility picking crappy players for people. It should encourage you to pay more attention to your draft.

Actually, Jistic does pick back-to-back at the end if you include his sandwich pick. He'll have picks #20 and #21.

Not sure if this is what you meant or not Jistic.
