On a separate topic....anyone have any idea what the arb panel is smoking? Hector Quintero...got $6.0 in arb last year, which IMO, was way too much. I tried starting him this year. He sucked, got hurt, and had a lousy season. His arb estimate was $6.0 again. I offered $5.0, which was the lowest it would let me do. I lost & he gets $6.5. WTF is up with that? That makes no sense at all.

I believe it works on a 40/60/80 scale of what the guy would be paid on the open market, in real life.

I'm assuming OOTP uses the 40/60/80 scale, but bases the money on the player's asking price... which as we know... is usually a good indicator of their true talent (ratings)

Just a clarification...trades bypass the Rule V process? So if I trade with Dallas for a player, the player will no longer be eligible for Rule V?

As long as you have room to put him on your 40 man roster immediately

Ratings definitely change on the first day of Pre-Season.... we just don't see it till January 1st. I think this is why demands (and ARB Numbers) changed drastically in just one SIM. I know on my team Maeda went up by $3.0 in one SIM.

Yep, I've got it. I've only got 27 players on the 40 man right now.

Pawtucket won its only Arb case

More importantly, no MAJOR contracts I need to resign-deal with on my roster!!

Looks like we are free to sign a player or 2 also should be ok to trade for one high price player if the need arises.

Wow, someone is 20 million over the cap. Either 2 big salary players or a bunch of small ones will have to go.

A couple of those "silent auction" players played way above their heads and made hefty paydays off of it.

You can call it played above their heads if you choose, but $ numbers in OOTP are ratings driven, so you can rest assured the ratings are still there.

Its also not a bailout when you're a victim of too many players hitting stardom and arbitration simultaneously. None of them are bad contracts.

I thought arbitration #'s were based on on-field production?

                                A) Poling isn't a bad contract

                                B) Poling isn't part of the silent auction

                                C) Poling helped put your ass out of the playoffs

And for the record on the bailout thing.... I should be pissed... livid really. I'm being absolutely screwed because of this CAP. The idea of the cap was to keep big budget teams from raping the small teams in Free Agency with contracts. I'm losing all guys that I drafted. If this were happening to a small market team there would be an uproar.

Believe me... I blame myself for not understanding the rule that we voted on. I thought our own arbi players could push us over. My bad for not getting it. But losing homegrown young talent strictly because they are too good... really sucks.

So call it a bailout or whatever...

Now that being said, I apologize to our more sensitive owners that I took 2 minutes to talk about my team. I've been trying hard over the past two days to not post about my team as that is clearly rubbing people the wrong way.
