Damn glove wizard awards. Raul Carbajal's Arb figure went from 900k to $3mil right after receiving his IL glove wizard award.

Wow, some pretty big arbitration numbers out there. A few relievers over 10 million. Yikes.

Yeah, I thought Pancho Perez was taking me to the cleaners until I saw some of those numbers.

Wasn't unexpected. Losing the Vasquez case hurt though. Was hoping to win that case as it pushed us over the salary cap. Need to drop about $1.6m in salaries before opening day which shouldn't be too difficult.

Did everyone protect all their guys for Rule V & am I the only one who missed that? For the offseason Sim 1 thread, I only read the first post, which didn't say anything about protecting guys for today. So, I didn't realize Rule V was coming up so soon and I didn't protect my guys. If I need to deal with it, I will. But if a whole bunch of other people didn't protect guys because they were unaware I just thought I'd bring it up.

I was unaware, but I fall under the category of someone that manages to miss it every season..except a couple seasons ago when my file didn't take.

I protected mine. (that's not what Linty said)

Since the purpose of the Rule V draft is to make sure teams aren't hoarding prospects in their minor league system and so those young guys can catch a break elsewhere if their parent organization doesn't have room for them in the bigs, would it be unreasonable for a team that still has space on their 40man roster to post a list prior to the Rule V draft protecting players outside the game?

This happens every year and it kind of goes against the spirit of what the Rule V is all about. It's one thing if a team has no room on their 40man roster and has to make a tough choice about who to expose, but it's another when a team accidentally exposes useful pieces despite having 10 open spots on the 40man. And I'm saying this as someone who has profited from such omissions in the past.

I know Linty, and that sucks. It always has, but just because bad things happened in the past doesn't mean we have to let them keep happening every season.
