Oddly enough, Soca's getting about half of what Stiver's getting per year. Must be nice to have money. Rich bitches.

Money is useless if there is no one to spend it on... which is where I am now.

                  Stiver to Pawtucket

                  Soca to Syracuse

                  Middlebrooks to Syracuse

All for much more than their asking price. Do the rest even matter?

So for this year the only FA compensation will be:

                    Type A
                    Windy City (for Windley)

                    Type B
                    Pawtucket (for Middlebrooks)

Unless somebody gets crazy with one of the remaining scrubs. :D

I think I maxed my offer to Middlebrooks at like 5.75 million per plus incentives. Guess I was never even close.

Career ERA over 5, WHIP over 1.50, fat contract...

                        He's the BLB's Jason Marquis.

Don't count Syracuse out. We should start calling him the "Compensation Maker".

I was uneasy offering 5.75, but I just wanted someone for about 2 years till Delmar Oyos and Simone Bertetto were ready to come up. I couldn't have paid 9 million.

By 1990, I think we are going to be paying All-Stars upwards of 35 million per.

Wow, a 2nd round sandwhich pick for Middlebrooks? What a joke, the guy's terrible. As bad as my staff is, I saw his initial demands and just laughed.

I'm just happy I didn't end up with $25mm in cash with nothing to do with it.
