I think there may have been merit to this back when Andrew did the SIMs under his name... but there is no logical way that SIMMING under the GW Bush login would benefit Virginia who is in no way affiliated.

I think 10 years of being bad (aka drafting high) + spending way too much time on one's team + being the best GM in the league in terms of working the trade block = Being Good

Every other winner to this point has just been dumb luck.

I'm beating him into the ground trying to make the playoffs. Hoping I don't do any permanent damage.

Came up with a clutch 5-2 sim. Still very much alive here.
Pffft... and to think I'm going to lose the J Allen Wright to you.

Because Virginia is the only team that drafts well and makes trades.

Well, some of that is true.

Virginia has drafted well because it was so bad for so long it had most of the top picks in the past few years. However, any indication that they are the best is opinionated and would hold more water coming from peers.

The same goes for trading. Other teams trade and everyone trades with a goal. It's always much easier to see your side before the other and when you spend as much time in the forums as Clay, it gets even easier to believe your own trades were the best in the league.

So we should credit Giggas or Clay's success?

          Virgina, the team Giggas built.

Honestly looking back, Clay took 7 years to finish ABOVE .500 (thats sucks btw Clay) and 11 years to get in the playoffs??

I'm happy for Clay, but as I use to say in the 80's "With enough high draft picks, even Tampa will be good someday"

              Clay's a good GM.

I still think Giggas deserves some credit for nearly destroying that franchise. Giggas for J Allen Wright.

I'm on board with that. Vote Giggas in '91!

Of course I don't think I'm the only team that drafts and trades well. But I do think I do it the best. But everyone should think they do it the best. If you don't think you do it well, you should be doing something different.

Naturally I'm going to be biased because I know my team better than all other teams. I see the guys I drafted playing well on other teams. I'm sure everyone else has those too.

I support the Giggas vote. Without his effect on the club we wouldn't have the three things that our guiding our season - the team name, the ballpark name and Danny Nelson. These three things are clearly what has made me the juggernaut that I am.

By the way, I am a peer that thinks you are exceptional as a trader and drafter. The success on the field over the past couple seasons illustrates that. It would be foolish to ignore that as a member of this league.

I do agree that you should always think you're the best. If you don't then you should change it up or at least work toward changing it up. I know that I've had a lot of experience with OOTP over a number of years and that has helped me in understanding how the game works, but I also know that there are things I can still learn. A lot of my time as GM here is a mix of past experiences in earlier leagues I failed miserably in, experience and taking what I think works from other GMs. As long as a GM is taking those steps, they are putting their team in the best position to win - no matter the payroll.

You've had quite a few high draft picks, but we all know that not all picks are guaranteed to succeed so you do deserve credit for recognizing which players were more likely to succeed. Some of it is luck, but I do think most of it is just recognizing what works and does not. That comes with experience and boy do we know that you've spent a lot of time here hoping to gain that experience!

But, you still have to beat the best team in baseball in the Brewmasters to take that coveted J. Allen Wright award away from Z - seeing that he even makes the playoffs of course.

Unless this went over my head, I think you mean the late 90's or even the early 2000's.

The Maine Guides lowest win total in franchise history is 94.

The Washington Bats have a career winning % of .575.

The Virginia Colonials have two seasons in their history with marks of 94+ wins or a .575+ winning percentage.

Since our playoff hopes pretty are much nil, despite the 4th best record in the IL and because of the existence of the worst division in the BLB: I'd now give an early thanks to 37-year old, Cesaro Campoveroe for the amazing season.

I don't count hell spawned teams from Virginia.

The Stout and Ale divisions are tied for the most wins in the league.
