the "I have the game" thread

I've never played before and haven't bought yet (planning on doing it this weekend). I pick up pretty quickly on things so I wasn't planning on trying it out until the day or two before the league starts. Other than getting comfortable with everything is there any benefit to starting now? The way I understand it if I start now with a team then I'm going to have to start all over again when the league starts, right?

Hope I don't hijack the thread (if you want you can even pull this out and make it it's own topic).

Well you can have multiple games going. I usually have a bunch of solo leagues going along with online leagues. The only reason I recommend starting now is to get the hang of the interface. It can be pretty overwhelming for newcomers and even for OOTP vets. I wouldn't worry about it too much though as you'll have a couple days before the league starts and the first few sims will be spring training. You can also review the manual and game guide here:

I think you should get it fairly soon just so you can get used to the game... what to look for, how to find what you're looking for... the game is quite daunting with so many stats and option available.
