I posted a thread about it awhile ago. Here's the link to the utility:

You should be able to login to check it out with the password guidesrule :D

I like the utility, but would also be in favor of doing at least the 1st round live.

I'd rather not do it live and just use the utility. We've had nothing but problems in the past and where we have so much time before the draft needs to be completed, I just don't see a need for it.

Set a time limit that people have between each pick and go. Autopick after 12 hours or something along those lines. This is different than in the past where we couldn't post the draft class until later in the year where there was a time crunch etc.

I'm a big proponent of a live draft, especially the 1st and 2nd rounds when the best talent is still on the board.

On another note......will there be a way to import our own scouts' ratings into the utility once they provide their draft class reports to us?

People send in lists if they can't make it.
With the draft utility people don't even need to send in lists, they can enter them online. There is absolutely no excuse for somebody missing a pick. I'm still trying to figure out how the utility's autopick logic works if somebody doesn't fill out the list.

With scouting, we'd start after Thursday's at the earliest.
That should work. I say we do it exclusively with the draft utility. Live drafts are hard to coordinate and could give the 10 or so guys who can show up an advantage.

I don't understand how showing up is an advantage over having a list? A list should be the guys you want under perfect circumstances. I'm not sure how being there live would hold an advantage.

Because you would know who exactly is available. When making your list you have to "guess" who might be available. Say for instance, you want to make sure you get a 2B, so you make your list reflecting that. The first three guys you put on your list are 2B. Now, the live draft comes and a Stud SP drops to your spot. Now you have the advantage of deciding right then if you'll stick with the 2B or you'll pick the Stud SP that you didn't think would fall to you. Being at a live draft and seeing who gets picked and making a decision on who is best available, on the spot, is a decided advantage IMO.

I thought the way we did it last year was just fine.

That shouldn't matter because you should go into the draft knowing if you are picking by need or by best talent available.

You should be making your list according to that. Or, if you feel you have a certain need, then make it like so:

                    Player Ranking

                    1. 79
                    2. 79
                    3. 77
                    4. 74
                    5. 69 (2B)
                    6. 71
                    7. 70
                    8. 62 (SS)
                    9. 67
                    10. 65

This way you are getting what you want based on what is available.

Because of the real time interaction with everyone makes it a more enjoyable and "life-like" draft experience. People can critique picks, wonder aloud, take players off their draft board, etc.

Which is why it would be a disadvantage to miss it:)

Look, I'll probably be able to be there, I'm just looking out for other guys. You guys know how much I'm online.

i'll most likely be there if we do it online, unless I have something I can't get out of or have tickets to, but id just prefer to do it off the draft utility.

Really, to me, live, draft utility or the forums works for me... I only liked the idea of live for the fun factor.
