  • Draft related question..

Regarding our leage's draft. It is autopick, but I am curious if there is any sort of guidance or positional pre-ranking that takes place on the user end?

IE, if a team wants an ace pitcher first, is there a way to indicate such so the CPU drafts accordingly, or is it strictly CPU based?

In 6.5 it was strictly CPU based and I assume it's the same in this version.

Gotcha, so it comes down to the program and what limitations it has.

I wasn't sure if it was an option in OOTP, and this league may not be using it, etc.

Correct. I'd love to do a full draft, but the amount of time and effort it would take isn't worth it.

It's too bad a full draft isn't feasible because it does take a large portion of the strategy out of the league (initially), especially considering the relatively extreme ballparks that some people are using and their potential desire to take advantage of the way their park plays.

With all the other bells and whistles that OOTP provides, including statistics ad nauseum, it's kind of surprising they don't offer any way to prioritize players (by play style or position) for an auto-run draft. It would be great if you could favor hitters or pitchers from one side, or build for speed or power, or emphasize a good bullpen, or favor potential over current skill, etc.

Is it possible for a Human first round and then let the CPU finish it up. That way everyone can at least control ONE prospect to (hopefully) build their team around?

...or is that asking too much?

It's a possibility. We'll see when I can get the league set up. I just don't want to get bogged down with stuff that prevents us from starting on the 11th. We also need to give people time to purchase the game.

Getting 20 owners to get a draft pick in is asking alot. I don't think it's very practical.

Strict time limit...if they miss, the CPU picks for 'em.
