I actually feel like Windy City in a way. I feel like I have a fantastic team right now, but have to make tough decision as they get into their big money days. I've always been a fan of how you handled it... hope I can be as successful.

A good argument to contradict the cheating claims is not to point at the other 'elite' team who happened to be run by the previous commish.

          Thanks, Guys.
You're right. A half season of .700+ ball and you're an "elite team like Maine."

You've been to the playoffs twice. Your ballclub has a sub .500 franchise record. You're not even at Sin City's level...yet.

With all due respect to the commish - and remember, I am saying with all due respect...

I don't mean to bust chops but I can't ignore this "aw shucks, I only hope I can handle it like you" act when Virginia has the largest budget in the league, just a shade under $30 million more than Windy City and certainly much more than they had before we realigned market sizes. I'm trying to take a smaller market mentality with my financials as well, and sometimes even wish I had a smaller budget, but I have a feeling you'll be able to keep more guys than WC could in the day.

Get your facts straight, my budget went down last season despite a long playoff run, so my budget is moving south despite the shift in market sizes. I've also never once operated over budget. Call it an act or whatever you want, but I can promise you no one runs their team more financially responsible than me.

Well then, get your facts straight - I didn't say you have operated over budget, I didn't say your budget is growing, I didn't say you're not fiscally responsible - all I said is that you have the largest budget in the league. That's a fact. And because your financial situation is so different from WC, I think it's a bit of a stretch to compare them. I certainly wasn't trying to be a dick, so sorry if it came off like that.

No, but you implied that I was putting on some type of faux "awww shucks" ACT (your word) when I said I'm in a position where I need to make financial changes to my team and think about making tough financial decisions.

Some of the bigger budget teams, like VIR, lose a portion of the flexibility of their higher budgets due to the $100mil payroll cap.

However, according to in game projections, VIR has $20.1mil to play with in 1992 and $19mil to play with in 1993. That includes the estimated arbitration amts, so those figures could be a bit lower or higher depending on the actual outcome of those cases or non-tenders. That also assumes spending up to the cap, which you obviously are not forced to do.

Exactly... which means even if I choose to spend up to the cap with all of the arbi players, I basically have to lose (most likely) 2 out of 3 Free Agents that have all been All-Stars. That's a handcuff. I get/got hurt by the Super 2 guys also... like Phillips... who should have been a straight 280k this season, but instead played to Super 2 status.

That was my obligatory Rod Phillips mention for Linty.

I'm just hopeful Virginia is done dominating the league by the time my rebuilding is coming to an end. I'm kind of glad that I'm not trying to compete against that juggernaut at the moment.

Not that I care since I try to keep payroll in check, but we did decide then on a 100mil cap? I thought Andrew just adjusted the market sizes?? Again, not a big deal from my vantage pt.
