That's a bit foreboding, and worrying, coming from the Commissioner!

The best part is the lack of punctuation. From a writer like Clay, it's even more unsettling.

It was a message to Baltimore. We played them this week. We had a 2.12 ERA for the week, best we've pitched for this season

          .....and got swept by Virginia.

I don't look at the SIM results until after I've uploaded everything. In fact, on Sunday's, I usually take the time to watch all 6 (or 7) of my games. So, at the time I post the thread, I'm as in the dark about how we all did as everyone else.

                Punctuation is for suckers! No?

It's that tricky E part in ERA. Yes, my teach also pitched well, but I beat Baltimore (and Carolina) this week thanks to a lot of bad defensive plays.

You know as well as I do that Batavia and Virginia are good games and, much like Pat, could go either way.

                (A) I accept your resignation

                (B) He's a Catcher, so I always take things with a grain of salt

                (C) I told you all seasons ago... I firmly subscribe to the "Maine Theory" on player development. If your highest level is successful and talented, guys seem to develop quicker, bust less and outperform their stats.

                (D) My bats keep developing, but my pitching is going the other way developmentally. Magness has taken a step back, McQueen fell OFF the Top Players list and Morgan can't seem to pitch anywhere near his ability. Add in two pen guys who have taken ratings hits and... well.... it balances.

That was fun. I can do all of my posting for the day at once.

                          Washington Bats - SIM 6 - (24-14; 2nd)
                          1-2 @ Windy City: L 3-12, L 5-6, W 2-0
                          3-0 @ Batavia: W 5-1, W 5-2, W 7-3

Six road games...four wins...I'll take it! Should have been five but the (former) closer blew a save opportunity.

                          The Good
He doesn't quite get the attention the other big D.C. players get, but shortstop Clint Johnston is having a special season. The 22-year-old hit two more homers this week, raising his season numbers to .324, 26 RBI, .896 OPS in 37 games. Oh, and he is the best fielder on my team.

                          The Bad
Please feel free to drop Roger Simonds from your BLB fantasy teams. He is no longer the Bats closer. After blowing his second save in only seven chances, the Bats will go in a different direction.

                          The Minors
My three squads are a combined 76-41.

                          What's Next?
Three @ Carolina, Three vs. Los Alamos.

                            Baltimore Bulldogs (22-16; 2 GB-2nd Place)

                            0-3 at VIR

                            3-0 at WIL

As I mentioned before, this was by far the best we've pitched so far this season. We held a very tough Virginia offense to just 5 runs in games 2 and 3. We scored just one. Part of the problem was a mix up in our lineup. I believe that the scheduled hurlers for Virginia may have been different than who we expected. No matter, it does look like we can at least, compete in Virginia.

                            The Good
                            - For the 3rd time, I can't say enough about how we've pitched the last couple of weeks. Although our bullpen is still shaky, our starters are looking tough from 1-5 right now, especially considering the maturation of Lonnie Grady.

                            - Speaking of Mr. Grady, this week he posted 8 IN, 6 H, 1 ER against Wilmington. He's still undefeated and still wants to closer. Sorry son, you are a starter.

                            The Bad
-I have absolutely no idea what to do about 3rd and SS right now. Boyd is not looking good at all and his replacement isn't any better. Ivan Garcia, after having a breakout year in 1990, follows it up by having his worst season at this level. With Marquez out with a concussion, Coutts scooped up off waivers by Hartford, and Willie Brown only reliable to strike out, this will likely be out downfall down the stretch if it doesn't get fixed.

                            The Injured
Another week of no injuries. I appreciate it baseball gods.

                            Next

We head back home to face the Bandits, who always play us well, and then head to Morgantown to face the last pla.....wait.....the "new look" Mohawks. By new look I mean they are not in last place and won our first series in Baltimore.

I don't understand these guys wanting to be closers. If OOTP changed how endurance is handled why are guys with decent enough endurance wanting to be closers? Shouldn't they want to be starters first?

Who besides Papelbon joins the majors so they could only be a closer?
