  • SIM COMPLETE - 1980 - FA 3

    zzzzzzzz.....

We might need to increase the number of days per sim next offseason. I think players take a lot longer to decide in 07. Especially if there's multiple teams involved.

That's one of the things I noticed in my single player games. The top free agents seem to take much longer, some of them taking several weeks to make a decision.

I don't have any pending offers, so it doesn't really affect me all that much.

That may be an issue because the longer a player takes, the more teams are going to incrementally increase their offers and (after more than a couple counter-offers) the offers could start to sky-rocket.

They already have. I've been informed by a couple agents of other teams offers to guys I offered contracts too and some of them are insane. Although this is more realistic it does make salaries inflate pretty fast. It may not be this year or next, but it looks like there will be a financial breaking point in the near future.

Andrew said he thought there was still too much money in the game, so maybe escalating salaries isn't such a bad thing. Then again, it'll pretty much eliminate any small market teams grabbing a big name FA.

I think it forces you to make your best offer right out of the gate. I think they will jump on them if they are clearly above and beyond the others.

I don't. I've submitted several offers to guys for 15%-20% more than they are asking, all they do is say thanks, then send that offer to anyone else who's interested.

Same here. It's getting pretty scary.

You have to wonder if the players have teams that they want to go to no matter what the offer may be from another team (within reason of course).

I don't see this as a problem and I think the game is working exactly as it should. There's very few quality free agents, so most have multiple suitors. If a FA has a bunch of teams trying to sign him, he should milk every last penny out of them as they're doing to you guys.

I agree that this is working as it should. It is quite the departure from the last version.

                        A question....

Three sims ago, I made an offer to a player. The next sim, I received no reply. Last sim, he replied and said he favored my offer, which I could view on the "pending offers" screen within free agency.

This most recent sim, I received no further communication from him and the offer is no longer listed on the "pending offers" screen. But when I go to offer him a contract, it says he favors my previous offer.

So is the offer still extended to him, or not? Do I need to re-offer?

I have NO offers listed whatsoever after the update. I had several players favoring my last offer...I can see that being a significant problem...
