This is just another example of why I shouldn't listen to Pat.

First, he says Davenport's pick, Gordinho, was bad because you don't pick a RP that early.

Of course, I wanted him, so I had to scramble for the next guy I wanted... he happened to be Salazar... so, I crumbled to public perception and ended up with Aguilar. Curses Pat, curses.

I'm generally against taking relievers early in the draft. But given the state of my bullpen perhaps that's a strategy I should reconsider. I like Gordinho and Salazar and think they'll be very good closers in the near future.

I'm happy to have Aparicio with my pick though. He was the top pitcher on my board though my track record with the draft is horrid.

Pulling out is the only advice you should take from Pat.

Sin City takes another high schooler, SP Ismael Ramirez, at 2.4.

In spite of him being an "introvert," we like Ismael's intangibles. He's only 17 and we have high hopes that he'll develop a third pitch to go with an already-plus fastball and a developing curve. If he doesn't develop a third pitch, then oh well, he's a setup man who throws 101 mph.

He was probably one of the most dominant HS feeder league pitchers ever.

                Good pick.

Surprised he didn't get picked before some of the SP's in the 1st round. Has plenty of time to develop a third pitch so maybe he will.

I really liked Cedillo, but I'm not surprised he didn't make it to me in round 2. Nice pick.

Dallas is on the clock. Dallas is also at Tropicana. It might be a while.

Hmmmm, I'm really tempted to go to at least one ALCS game- I wonder what prices back in Texas will be like.

I really, really, really hate the Yankees and I've really like how the Rangers play. It's too bad it looks like Cliff Lee's next start will be in New York, I would love to watch him pitch.

Sin City drafts middle reliever Yoshio Yoshida at 2.8.

In addition to having an awesome name that makes him sound like a fucking samurai, Yoshio appears to be BLB-ready after posting very respectable ERA and K/BB numbers against "great" competition. Hopefully he can step into the Sin City bullpen in short order and provide some stability there.

He also enjoys boating in the offseason, something we always look for.
