    LHP - Curt 'Gopher' Race
Traded for Joe Iliquez in 1985

Race is finally making his anticipated BLB debut after a couple years in the Kodiaks farm system. 'Gopher' has been a prized prospect of mine for a long time. Can't wait to see how he does.

    LHP - Curt Warren
Traded for Jarred Good in 1990

Warren, another left hander will be making BLB debut after sitting out the last few weeks with a strained oblique. He brings another power arm to the Kodiaks rotation in hopes of helping stabilize the bottom of the rotation.

Warren and Race will be replacing Robby Sears and Curt Goodwin who have been moved to the bullpen in hopes of fixing the mess that is our bullpen.

      SP Pat Dimmick
1989 Round 1, Pick 1 by Los Alamos

With the extended injury to Carl Pateshall, this 23 year old right hander jumps on the fast track to Los Alamos. Word was that Dimmick would likely spend the year in Silver City with a possible call-up in September but with the Bandits eyeing the Brawlers for Bock glory it looks like the kid will get a few more starts in the show.

So far Dimmick has posted a 10-6 mark with a 2.07 ERA in 23 starts for Silver City. He has 135 punch outs in 139 innings while walking only 28. Dimmick will make his BLB debut against the high powered Washington Bats offense on 8/8/91.

I figure this thread will probably be pretty busy today and tomorrow....

Drafted in the 7th round of the '83 draft by Los Alamos. After seven up and down years at all levels, the Bandits let him walk as a Free-Agent in the Winter of '89. Signed by Washington, Martinez has spent the last two seasons in Triple-A, begging for a shot at the bigs.

He isn't expected to take on a huge role for this season or the playoffs, but this is a good debut to see if he can be a regular in '92.

Martinez was drafted in the 7th round of the 1987 draft by the Bulldogs. Because of his age and maturity, we initially gave him a chance at the AA level. That didn't work out well and Martinez spent the next two years honing his skills in Orlando (A). In 1990, we experimented with Martinez at AAA level. He again didn't impress, but did do relatively well in AAA this year. In his first major league start against California, he performed ok, going 7 innings with 9 hits and just 2 earned runs.
