I wanted Jones too, but I'm not sure I would have wanted to pay 8.5 million in 91 plus two more years, albeit cheaper years.
Yeah, I hear you. I had to have an arm though and he was the top one on the market according to my scout. If he can be a #3 for the next two years he'll be worth it to me.
I know he's going to frustrate me though. He's one of those guys with a disparity between ratings and results, but again I really needed an arm and the front loaded deal was doable.
Anyone else having difficulty d/l the league file? It took forever, and after it was done loading I got an error message saying there may have been a problem the last time I saved the file and the database may be corrupt. It reloads the last "good" file, which has the current in-game date but is missing at least some of the changes from the last sim (for example, Solis is still a Free Agent.)
I'm trying to d/l again. It's still pretty slow, but a little faster.
Well I picked up a few bats in free agency (Llombart and Adron) to fill in the void in OF prospects in my organization. It's looking more and more like Robby Bowen is going to make the jump from AA to the Show this year.
On another note, very happy to have picked up Russ McEvoy in free agency. He'll hopefully provide a stabilizing presence to the front of my rotation for the next couple of years.
I have money to spend, but I can't bring myself to offer anything even remotely close to what these aging players want. It's beyond ridiculous.
This is pretty much where I am. At this point, payroll flexibility during the season is worth a lot more to me than any of these aging stiffs. I'm hoping to sign one guy just from a raw positional need basis, but otherwise, these greedy old codgers can go to hell.
