  • Schedule / Interleague play?

I was going to post another poll, but this issue needs a little more discussion.

What type of schedule would you like to see?

Should we use an unbalanced schedule? (more games against teams in your division)

    Should there be interleague play?

I was always a big fan of an unbalanced schedule. And I'll go either way on interleague play. Although I kind of like keeping the leagues separate (DH and no DH) until the WS.

The only problem with no interleague play is that you'd have to play every team in your league 18 times a year to get 162 games. (assuming my math is correct)

I'd prefer no interleague play, but I think that's too many games against the same teams.

        Well, there's a couple options.

        Balanced, no interleague.
        Unbalanced, with interleague.

I prefer choice #1, as interleague was created for the sake of selling tickets in the middle of the season with no real benefit to the teams playing.

Although I do favor unbalanced, I'd rather have balanced with no interleague.

I like unbalanced, with interleague against only one division of the other league.

I'd prefer an Unbalanced schedule, and I'm fine with interleage play. Maybe we'll develop some rivalries.

I like the unbalanced schedule and I'm not a huge fan of interleague play, but I agree that 18 games against your divisional opponents is too many. So I'd like to see an unbalanced schedule, with interleague.

A home and away with each team from that division, or just 1 series against them? Also, would you switch divisions every year?

Well I'd prefer just one series with a team. However, due to the lack of teams, a home and away would be cool. And yes I'd switch divisions every year kind of how they do now.

With an unbalanced schedule and a home and away with each team from a division in the other league it would look something like this:

30 games - interleague play (6 games vs 5 teams)
60 games - other division (12 games vs 5 teams)
72 games - own division (18 games vs 4 teams)

                      Agreed.

Although before expansion teams in the same division played each other 18 times, I think that many games against your entire league would probably be a bit much.

Interleague with a home and home series against a yearly "rival" and then switching divisions every year is probably the best way to go.

The issue was with a balanced schedule and no interleague, you'd play every team in your league 18 times. I don't mind playing your own division 18 times. It's almost a necessity with only 20 teams.

It seems like most people are interested in the unbalanced schedule with interleague. I'm open to any suggestions though.

As said before, the issue isn't playing teams in your own division 18 times, but playing every team in your entire league (Domestic or Import) 18 times.

Back in the 70's, 80's, and early 90's each division played each other 18 times (e.g. NL West teams played each other 18 times but played NL East teams only 12).
