I actually think that's a great idea.
As it is...I'm just plain pissed that you can't leave the damned rules alone for a season or two.

There have been changes...but there hasn't been any waiting.
With this change, frankly, my team WILL wither and WILL remain absolutely shitty for the forseeable future. There is no avoiding it. If I can't sign a top notch free agent then my team will lose over 100 games without fail again this season. With one, I am looking at a 90+ loss season, but I can begin the process of bringing fans back into the ballpark. Without then I have to wait for any number of 4 or 5 players to develop which could take 3 to 5 seasons and then I MAY be able to get over .500.
Since you've consigned my team to the scrap heap with the sudden implementation of this rule, I'm certain that you can understand my frustration.

Seriously, I don't comment seriously on here much, but this is getting ridiculous. I'm pretty sure Andrew (and everyone else) has plenty of other things to do in life then devote their time to making all 20 people happy with rules in a ficticious league. If this decision is THAT damning to your life, you should probably consider stepping back, deleting the game from your laptop, throwing your laptop out the window, and taking a step outdoors to the real world.
Not trying to be a dick here, but personally I do this for fun. I like the concept and the challange. Andrew spends enough time on this as is, considering he has a job (kinda, it is the state Gov't), and a pending wedding on the horizon.
My advice to everyone? Stick with what most people said was fine, deal with it for the season, revisit it at the end. If this is too hurtful for your team/life, then we have a full waiting list available.
I'm off my soapbox

Bottom line, I gave everyone a chance to chime in and most people chose not to. I've been very up front about every change to the rules; I ask and consider everyones opinion. I don't know what else I can do.

Premium players for my team are few and far between...most being in the minor league system. Certainly none that would be affected by this rule for some time. Frankly this rule should have been announced well in advance at the very minimum and probably not implemented for at least 7-10 seasons in the league.(weed out the initial draft) The only possible outcome of this rule is that the currently stellar teams will have a great boost based on the luck of their starting draft that provided exceptional players to them.
I most certainly am looking at what is best for the league...Some semblance of parity would be best for the league. This rule will produce stagnation and stagnation is the first avenue to death.

To throw another wrench in the mix, you said the game doesn't do sandwich picks (hopefully they'll add it later....hint, hint beta team guys!) but couldn't we do our own sandwich picks outside the game? That way teams don't lose their picks to pick-up FAs but the team losing the FA still gets compensated.Dallas Snappers

First of all, how can this be the end of your team?
Can you not make trades? Can you not focus on your farm, and develop talent? If the player you want to sign is good enough, and will pull you out of obscurity, like you make it sound, why not sign him? Will a 2nd and 4th rounder that might not even pan out really be worth that much, if the player is as good as your saying?
Your missing the bigger point here. This is necessary for parody. My team has been used as an example, and i've been fairly successful.
The post was up, when it was just an IDEA. You chose not to respond, so live with the consequences. You only seem to show up on the board every other week anyway, it doesn't surprise me that you missed the thread.
I'm really getting frustrated with people taking this to an extreme level. Let's let it play out. Andrew has done testing, has seeked the opinion of anyone who will listen, and made a decision. This is not bad for the league, even though it may seem so now. Put yourself in my shoes. I'm losing my best player next year, because I have a small market. If compensation doesn't exist than I'll be DAMNED to obscurity.Los Lunas Javelinas - 1978 Brewmaster Champions!

Maybe I'm crazy, but I personally think this thread has been a good open dialogue and people have not come in with a personal agenda. As I stated before my team (as well as Squints) are in a position where we can afford to spend and we have multiple first rounders... it doesn't hurt us nearly as bad as it might other teams.
No one, in my opinion, is trying to make life more difficult for Andrew. People are simply stating opinion and recommendation on things to monitor as we roll into this entirely new season and piece of software.
Damn. I thought it was a great thing that this little thread sparked some good dialogue and input... something I thought Andrew wanted. There have been no demands. No threats. No personal agendas. And, really, no bitching. The Great One!
To many rings to count...
