Are we asking for this sim schedule so the playoffs are more of an event or are we doing it so owners have more control over their team in crucial games?
    Both?

I guess from my POV, they go by too “quickly” because each series is over in 1 SIM. There’s no buildup/suspense intra-series. No real playoff talk.

I’m all for getting to the next offseason as quickly as possible, so that’s not the definition of “quickly" that I’m personally approaching this from.

I see the points of extending the series talk, but I personally even being in the playoffs quite a bit am fine with blowing through it.

But I still love you Brad.

Well, with that last statement, you’ve won me over. I withdraw everything I previously posted. Let it be stricken from the record.

I'm more than willing to spread out the playoff SIMs. It really doesn't impact me much at all. For the non-playoff teams, once they reduce to 25 men, they really don't have to export again till off-season, so that's not too much of an issue.

We'll put it to a vote this off-season and look to implement (if it passes) for '91.

I'm not sure if this belongs here or in the OOTP 11 thread, but I'm curious about something. I know one of the features of 11 is Draft Pick bonuses/negotiating to get picks signed. Is this feature mandatory or can it be turned off?

If it can't be turned off is there any way for us to determine the average expenditure per team that is going to be required for signing picks? Since this would add a totally new element to our financial system I'm a bit worried that some teams may not be prepared for the sudden change in money management.

Would it be feasible to come up with an expected draft pick signing $ amt and "bonus" every team that amount for the first season in 11 to offset any potential issues arising from this addition? Maybe step it down over the next 2-3 seasons while people become accustomed to the new model and know how to budget for it? If the first year is determined to be $4mil and each team gets "bonused" that money then perhaps season 2 could step down to $2.5mil then year 3 down to $1mil and then everyone's on their own?

This is all moot if the draft pick signing feature can be turned off (provided we decide to leave it off if that is an option), I'm assuming.

Advanced Draftee Signings (Found in Draft Rules at the time of the Draft)

When the draft begins, you will have a choice of whether or not to enable Advanced Draftee Signings. When Advanced Draftee Signings are disabled, drafted players automatically sign contracts for their stated demands. The Advanced Draftee Signings feature is more realistic, and requires teams to negotiate with draftees selected in the first five rounds of the draft as well as players drafted later who have a specified signing bonus demand (ie not "slot"). Teams must sign players before a deadline (usually two months after the draft), or risk the player returning to the draft in the following season.

Which makes it sound like a problem...because the AI automatically signs the kid at his demand. But then I found this...

                http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/docu...ur_draft_rules

Enable Advanced Draftee Signing (Signing Bonus Negotiations)
(Found in the Rules section under league setup)

If this box is checked, OOTP will use its advanced draftee signing feature. This feature forces teams to negotiate with and sign drafted players to contracts. If this box is not checked, all drafted players will automatically sign minor league contracts with the team that drafted them, and there are no signing bonuses.

So I assume the commish can just un-check this box in the 'Rules' section of the league setup and they will all automatically sign minor league contracts and it should be like normal.
