Yeah, I'm not liking the way this works either. It's not really reflective of real life because there's no way I'm going to fire a guy with the hopes that my negotiation with another Scout/Doctor/Coach may work out for the best for me. And when it doesn't, I'm stuck with nothing.

There was no real negotiating. I'm upset that I lost the guy I offered my managerial job to because he wanted to be a bench coach. Now, I'm sure I'll be hiring some guy that doesn't even deserve a job as a waterboy, yet he'll be managing my BLB club. Yay.

Did you go to "Game" -> "Download On-Line League File"?

It take a bit longer than 2 seconds.

Why can't we go to 'Import via FTP' anymore?

At the very least you should be able to make offers to multiple coaches/managers/doctors and rank them in order of preference.

Now that I actually got the file to work right, I didn't get anyone I was trying for...and now I have a bunch of holes in my system 'cause I had to fire all these guys.

We need to find a way around this....this is a horrible system. What if I can't even get back the guys I fired?

Mine took longer than two seconds and everything else is updated, but all my messages are blank. I have messages, 23 new ones, but they're all blank.

Blank messages are due to a known issue that has reportedly been corrected. I cannot verify this yet as I have not installed the newest beta build yet.

If you extract the in game downloaded and extracted .tar file (about 51 meg) into the following folder

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\My Documents\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\data\saved_games\brewers.lg

I think the beta guys should suggest the multiple offer and ranking system to Markus. Either that or have an option to fire the person at your current position only if your offer is accepted.

Import via FTP should never have worked for downloading the league file, because it only imports your team, and it only imports what ever export is sitting on the server. So, I have no clue what you used to do, but it shouldn't have worked.

Forward him this thread. My guess is that my second recommendation would be the easiest one to code and implement and it still offers an element of realism without teams opening themselves up to getting completely screwed.

Always worked with no problem for me. I always thought you imported & exported the same way. Wonder if I was missing anything from that? It seemed like everything was always there.

I lost Reberte to Windy City, a team with a higher ID. I know I got Bustios, a scout, but a bunch of other teams offered him a contract as well.

My theory is that the personnel will always end up with the last team to offer him the job. The teams with the higher ID are imported last.
