Spoiler
Washington Bats (92-51; 1st)
2-1 @ Wilmington: W 2-1, L 1-3, W 8-1
1-2 vs. Morgantown: L 5-7, L 0-3, W 4-2
Battled to win the series in Wilmington and then came back to D.C. and lost two of three to the lowly Mohawks. I even got shut out! Good tough .500 week in the best division in baseball.
The Good
-Going into the season I thought Bill Faircloth would be a solid #3 or #4 SP pitcher. After a 5-hit, no walk, one run complete game against the Wildcats there is no doubt that he is the #2 pitcher on the staff. I feel pretty confident going into any playoff match-up with Carlton and Faircloth at the top. During these last few weeks however, I will be deciding on who is the #3 and #4 for the playoff rotation. I'm leaning towards Brooks and Tucker but Villazon has been on fire.
-Miguel Angel Padilla is five RBI away from setting the Bats single season RBI record. He already passed the HR mark a few weeks ago, breaking his own previous record. He has a career 141 HR and 542 RBI...and he turned 25 two weeks ago.
The Bad
-Michio Nago is on a cold streak. He has been hitting .250 over the last two months. I'm not sure if the Nago-Wallace shit talk got to his head or what...but the guy is playing average baseball right now.
The Injured
-Shit!! Tex Briggs is going to miss four weeks with a broken foot. Of course, right after he is getting in a groove, winning player of the week, he is out a month. R.A. Grounds will now be starting at 3B versus lefties as well as righties.
Next
-Four versus Virginia. Three at California. I would absolutely love to slowdown Clay's playoff run. (I also play Baltimore the following week as well.) But in reality, it's probably going to be a tough test for my team.
