On the positive side: Already surpassed mechandising and almost past my gate revenue from last year.

Too many injuries this year

Crazy week. A few notes:

1. Denver was 2-0-1 this year against Syracuse. Then Syracuse sweeps them this last sim. That's how you shut up a team.

2. Without having utilities to look at, Denver's starter ERA was great this sim. Hardly had a bad game against Syracuse. They just pitched even better.

3. Of course, Denver has done well against Maine this year. Not sure what that says.

4. Pedro Zamarida looked like an old man this last sim.

5. Antonio Romo forgot how to take one of his patented walks.

6. Curt Rutledge has extended his streak to a hit in 7 straight pinch-hit at-bats. He then goes 0-4 as a starter in his last game. We know where he belongs. *This is incorrect. Still at 6-straight pinch-hit at-bats. He entered the previous game as a pinch-runner before hitting later in the inning.

7. Is Chet Poole for real? As a starter this rookie season: 6 starts, 5-0, 1.61 ERA, 39.2 IP, 7 ER. Not sure how long a pitcher that keeps the ball in play can survive but his BABIP is .290 which isn't abnormally high or low so who knows?

Swept at Batavia and then lost the 1st of a 3 game set with Windy City before rebounding to win the last two. 2-4 SIM, our first losing SIM of the season.

2-1 @ Morgantown: W 5-2, L 0-3, W 9-8
3-0 vs. Carolina: W 4-1, W 2-1, W 9-3

Very pleased with the 5-1 week. Granted, the opponents didn't put up much of a fight, but when you go 5-1 and don't increase your lead...you must be playing in the Stout.

The Good
-If it wasn't for a record breaking season in Virginia, Miguel Angel Padilla would be getting a lot more press clippings. The 24-year-old has now raised his season numbers to .290, .934 OPS, 26 HRs and 89 RBI in 96 games. He is on pace for one of the best seasons, if not the best, in D.C. history.

-After some initial struggles Britt Bovey has settled in very well with the Bats. The 37-year-old lefty is now hitting .304 after his first 20 games with the club. Currently has a five game hitting streak.

The Bad
-Two more injuries. Mike Murdock will miss a week and Clement Montgomery will miss a month. Could have been worse...

-For the first time, in I don't know how long, I have a player in the "Who's Not?" section. His name, is Tommy Lang. From April-June, he was 8-1 with a an ERA hovering just under 4.00. Now, he has lost two straight games, and got a no decision in a 9-8 comeback win. His ERA has skyrocketed to 4.82. Nothing has changed as far as attitude, injury or ratings, but as soon as the calender hit July, Lang has been a completely different pitcher. If he isn't careful, he will be sent to the bullpen.

The Minors
-Per the usual, my Triple-A and Double-A teams are in first place. In fact, I'm pretty sure the Richmond Rams could be a .500 team in the Pilsner.

Next
Three at Chicago. Three at Virginia. With the Murdock, Montgomery and Grounds (still) out of the lineup, this won't be easy. If I can get a 3-3 week here, I'll be pleased.

I was looking more for: .20 percentage points behind Mr. Wallace in batting average.

But don't worry, I know.

Wallace was player of the week and will likely be player of the month. He only hit .520 for the week, only .463 for the month, and only .379 on the road in July because he plays in Phillips Field.


In other news, I think my trades are really looking good after the all-star break. Since coming to Baltimore:

Jorge Lorral: 4-1, 2.65 ERA, 1 CG
Joe McMonies: 9 G, 4 SV, 2.89 ERA, .42 WHIP

-Despite his terrible start in Baltimore, Akira Abe has also picked it up in his last 3 starts. He was pretty upset with leaving Carolina but winning does wonders I guess.

-JJG pitched another 8 inning 0 ER, 6 hit gem. But of course, he doesn't get the decision because Grady comes in an immediately gives up a home run and we end up losing 3-0. Come on offense, JJG needs help too.
