Three game sims leave so much to be desired. Glad I could increase the Stout lead, however.

The Good
-This...just...in...Martin Carlton is a superstar. This is starting to look very similar to his Pale Ale winning '88 campaign. This week, six innings, four hits, two walks, six strikeouts, no ER. Last week, he had his first complete game of the year, a two-hit shutout against Philly. He has a 94% quality start.

-I'm very pleased with the injury fill-in duties by Jon Fisher. This guy spent the entire '89 season waiting for an opportunity. I signed him to a minor league deal on a whim and he tore up Triple-A pitching all season. Very versatile defensively. I know it's only nine games, but the 33-year-old hit .290 with a .882 OPS in fill-in duties for the injured trio of Robert Abbott, R.A. Grounds and Clint Johnston. He might just stick around when they all return from the DL in a utility role.

The Bad

MR I. Garca was injured while pitching. The Diagnosis: torn biceps. He's expected to miss about 3 months.

Greeeaaaat.

Looks like Ivan Garcia, formerly the #9 overall prospect in baseball, is completely injury prone. Tried him as a starter, blew out his elbow last year. This year, as a RP, it was his bicep. Dude could have been something special and was having the best season of any of my relievers. He is probably one more arm injury away from falling off to mediocrity.

The Call Up
Many Duran is coming back up to the BLB. A September call-up in 1989, Duran struggled at the highest level in four starts. However, the past seasons in Triple-A, 32 starts, 16-7, 2.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 214 IP, 217 K. He doesn't have the control rating I look for in a pitcher but I think he is ready to prove his worth. With the injury to Garcia, I will be playing Duran in middle relief. I could use a 3rd lefty.

Next
Three at Morgantown and three vs. Carolina. With how bad the Mohawks are and the fact the Tobs are blowing it up, I really should be able to go 6-0. Inflated confidence and high expectations, I'll probably go 2-4.

Joe Ponte was lost for two months (essentially the rest of the regular season) with a strained elbow. He’s at 9 wins right now so hopefully he can come back and get a start or two under his belt before the end of the year. He’s never had a season with fewer than double digit wins and I’d hate for him to lose his streak this year when he was pitching so well (9-1 | 2.24 ERA | 0.96 WHIP | 14 QS | 18 GS).

The Dan Jones acquisition looms much larger now.
