Honestly, I was starting to get bored with 2006 because of the monotony. No FAs, standings looking the same, similar draft position, etc.
The gap above (67-101) was the same after a 10 year sim. I'm not sure how big of a gap, but I'd shoot for something similar to what you see on the financial page now (45-111).

To accomplish this, I'd simply raise the market size of the larger market teams and lower the market size of the smaller market teams, without changing any other variables.

I agree with you Sully. I'm getting bored winning titles, so need a new challenge. :D

So when you say budgets are changing "based on how good your team is" does that mean.

      A. If your team already is good, you won't have much of an increase if you have a good season.

      or

      B. Regardless of your previous season, as long as you have a good year your budget will increase.

Being a small market team that already is hitting 100+ win seasons, do we have nowhere to go but down? Or will we continue to grow as long as we continue to win?

I'm for option 2. If free agency becomes a non-issue, they why even have financials? We could all have the same payroll and we'd have to build teams based on draft picks/trades. Like Squint said, I think we should aim for realism.

It means A with a caveat. If you have a 98 win season and sell out every game and then follow it up with a 102 win season and sell out every game, you won't see much of an increase, if any.

However, prolonged success will result in your market size increasing which will in turn raise your media revenue (in the amount of $7.5 mil per level).

You can also add more seats over time. Increased attendance raises both your gate and merchandising revenue, which will also increase your budget.

Once our run is over sounds like we have to get real bad before we can real good financially. With us being so good in 2006 world and not having any increases in media or merchandising we're gonna be behind the 8 ball the rest of the way.

I don't like being in a nowhere to go but down situation, but it is what it is.

Not necessarily. If you can sustain your current success for a few more years, there's a good chance your market size could get bumped up.

I prefer option 2 and am looking forward to the challenge. It will be a lot more satisfying to win a championship if I build from the ground up rather than simply being the beneficiary of a good initial draft.

Also, from the commish's point of view I definitely can see how it would get boring without some new blood at the top of the standings.

In a long term sim I ran a few beta builds ago I actually saw where market size changed so much that a small market team became a big market team and a big market team became a small market team. It doesn't happen overnight and it is not guaranteed to happen in all cases but it can happen.

Winning begets larger attendence which begets bigger market size

Losing begets smaller attendence which begets smaller market size.

How many years a team has to do either of those is unknown but your market size can vary and vary greatly.

Maybe it's because parents don't want their kids walking around with a Playboy logo on their gear. Did you ever think of that???? Maybe it's the merchandise!?!??!?!?
