Whoever the manager likes better. Not quite sure what goes into it.

My guess would be it's based on when you export.

There is run flaw in the new system.

When you want to sign a coach, you have to have an opening on your team, and offer the new coach that position.

          This poses two problems:

          1) If you don't have an opening, but want to upgrade, you'll have to release your current personnel first.
          2) You can't make more than one offer for the same position

Now, the plus side is that it can all be done in the game. If you had to release someone to offer a contract, and then you don't sign the coach you were going after, you'll have to go after someone else. Still, i'm glad that we can do this in game.

Robster, do you know what happens in the scenario Rubisco was talking about?

That is desired by the coach, much like how players do it.

that's what i was worried about. i had to let go of someone in order to give an offer to an available person. but if that person doesn't sign, i'm screwed. oh well, a minor part, but might turn out to be fairly annoying if personnel decides to not sign with me on a consistent basis. and it's not like we can increase their salary offer or anything.

Right, this is going to take some adjustment. It is better IMO, then first come first serve like we've been having to do it though.

                    Here's what I meant:

I just picked up a few new coaches. I export.

Rubisco picks up a few new coaches...then he exports. Andrew does the sim. We both picked the same guys and they both signed with us...which team do they end up on?

That's what I answered. They decide who they want to play with. Although they will appear to be on your team until the sim is ran

Wow, that's horrible. So I fire someone, then I think I hired someone to replace him. Then after the sim I could find out he didn't choose my offer and now I'm left with no one?

Yeah, that is odd. If you were to fire a coach mid-season, I guess there's a chance he would deny your offer and you're without a coach for a week?

                            Yes, that is correct.

Hopefully this changes at some point in the future. So we have the opportunity to do it in game, but we have to live with these flaws.

Well, here's one way to dance around it. Offseason, coaches are fair game, everyone can bid for their services. In-season, post in the coaches/scouts forum that you are offering a coach/scout a contract. This makes them off limits to everyone else. This will help us avoid some headaches should we ever have two GMs trying to sign the same coach/scout during the season.

I know it's rare that we'll have a coach/scout fired midseason, but it's still a good idea to have something in place.
