    I like it. I'm sure it's something we can tweak next offseason, if need be, but I think it's important that we get something in place.

      Also forgot to say that the Top 10 picks of the 1st Round would be "protected" meaning teams would get the alternate compensation instead.

      The only thing I'm not too confident with is if a team doesn't have the alternate compensation for the current draft. Is rolling it over to the next season enough?

        Maybe we should do away with trading draft picks? One thing compensation will do is drastically lower the number of trades we see involving picks. I'm not going to deal away my early picks if I know it's going to limit what I can do in Free Agency.

          I think that eliminates some of the flexibility small market teams will have. Instead of just being able to build through the draft, they'll be able to use those extra picks in trades.

              Can you explain? Personally I think it's eventually going to be a necessity to keep small market teams competitive but I'd like to hear alternate points of view.
